My friend and I agree that we heard a turbo in there. When the engine suddenly gains rpms (and i dont think that's just the VTEC, he floored it), the winded Turbo+VTEC+an idiot flooring an already winded turbo=9,000 rpm= kaboom :'(.

(just my guess)

I don't have a clue either but it sounds like the block couldn't withstand anymore power so proably a cracked block. I've seen something like that on a full blown 350Z before too.
