I don't know what your budget is. However if I was to go with a "screamer" new car I'd go with a Evo(but wait on the Evo 10 if you can) if you can't wait go with the new Sti.
if you don't like either one of those an Accord v-6 6 speed sweet or a TL with a six speed sweet too.

-TL 6 speed no navi.
-Lexus Es(not very exciting but a nice car)
-Nissan Maxima
-BMW 325(maybe a 330 if you can find a dealer willing to deal).

of that group personally I'd go with the 330.

RWD ?? FWD ?? AWD?? Auto ?? Manual ?? 4 banger ?? V6 ?? Turbo ??

Lots of foreign 4 doors out there for under 35K...

25K-35K (base MSRP)

Acura TL
Acura TSX
Audi A4
BMW 325 (base msrp for a 330 is $36,600)
Honda Accord
Infiniti G35
Lexus ES 330
Lexus IS 250
Mazda 6
Mercedes-Benz C230, C280
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
Nissan Altima
Nissan Maxima
Nissan Sentra
Saab 9-3
Saab 9-5
Subaru Impreza WRX STi
Subaru Legacy
Toyota Avalon
Toyata Camry
VW Passat
VW Golf
VW Jetta
Volvo S40
Volvo S60

And I left out the domestics, Hyundais, Kia's, Mitsi Galant, Suzukis, and probably a couple more...

You might want to do a little research first, and come back with a smaller list...

http://www.edmunds.com/apps/vdpconta...ttribute=sedan

If I were looking for a new car, I've got the my narrowned down to coupes with at least 220hp, RWD and available with a MT tranny... that makes my list a little more manageable...

G35c, Mustang, BMW 330, RX-8...
Rumors... IS350 coupe, New G37c, New Supra, new BMW 330 coupe (or 1 series based M2) and a sub-nsx coupe from Acura

So I've only got like 4 "real" options... rumors don't count till they are on the showroom floor....

Well either fwd or awd, auto eng doesnt matter just quick...not too terrible on gas but at least reasonable right? i would love a g35 coupe...but my insurance would skyrocket...here where i live 2 door = sports car (even my brothers base model cavalier was considered a sports car)...dont know about where you live or if thats the norm

Jetta 2.0T with DSG (maintenance costs are $$$)
Legacy GT (not the best fuel economy for its class, but quick)

(No particular order)

The new TL isn't plagued with trans problems like the last generation. And if you're really worried about that, get the 6-spd manual.

Actually the 6MT is more "iffy" than the 5AT. People have had shifting problems which have only been cured by using a thinner, non-approved syn blend fluid. This should not have to be done in order for the transmission to operate properly.

The 5AT should be okay...but its past reliability history does make me nervous. Also, does anyone know why the fluid always turns brown within 15-20K... ???

completely

I'd go Legacy GT, if you want something kinda luxurious, but can mod the hell outta it and make it fast
IS250 if you care less about speed, and more about comfort, reliability, and looks. but also available in 4WD like the Legacy if you can afford it. for 35k you MIGHT even be able to step up to the 350, especially that late into the year. only downside is no AWD and no manual tranny

if you can find a deal maybe find a new WRX Sti. If you wait till October or around that time you might find a left over 06 because the 07s will be coming in. They'll work with you.
