Huh??? "Splain that to me Lucy".

Interesting approach, obviously more for fuel economy and reduced emmissions than performance but still always good to be considering new ways.

Turbo compress the air that goes into the cylinders right, and that engine design uses a cylinder to comrpess the air, so isnt that same approach as the turbo.

No, watch it again, or several more times. There are some very basic similarities to forced induction but the results are significantly different. First volumetric efficiency isn't their aim, thermal efficiency and reduced emissions seem to be the point, I also assume this engine could run quite lean but I am curious about octane requirements.
