What do you think about the SRT4?
Since my car was broken into already I'm planning on selling the car when it's all fixed. I'm thinking about the SRT4 but I want to hear everyone's point of view on the car. I know it's the wrong place to ask but I like to think of this forum as my family since I did own a CL before the incident with my mom. Anyways please give me your point of view on this car thanks.
How old are you? What do you want in a car? I don't like the SRT-4, b/c it's ONLY a race type car....no tameness in it at all for long drives
Also, anyone who buys an SRT-4 and is over 21 is either a dumbass or is trying to get laid by 15 year olds; in either case they need a good beating
I would look at an RSX first. It all depends on your $$ and taste

well i've been looking for an rsx type-s but their a little too pricey......so far I've found a nice SRT4 for like around 12k and I really want an RSX so that I don't leave the Honda family but it's a little pricey.......with my financial status I can't afford to finance a big sum. I would say the biggest would be at least like 4k. This is on top of what I get out of my civic and also my eclipse together.
Here's my mini review I wrote last year on another thread:

It is not your average Neon this thing hauls ass, handles pretty good, and the brakes are amazing for a $20K car. Sure it may not have the quality of an RSX, but once you hit the gas pedal it’ll make you forget about that. In the ¼ mile they can run anywhere from 13.8 to 14.1 @ 100 to 103MPH stock with a good driver. C&D ran 0-60 in 5.3s and 13.9s @ 103 MPH in the ¼ mile. It really is the best bang for the buck when it comes to performance.
Another cool thing about the SRT-4's is that they are very underrated, the 230HP and 250lb-ft manufacture rating is very misleading. Since they are known to put 225-230HP and 240-250lb-ft of torque at the wheels STOCK! SRT-4 also has a lot of potential, with the stock turbo with Stage 1 or 2 upgrades from Mopar, coupled with CAI, DP, higher flowing exhaust you can get up to 300WHP easily. Or if that isn’t enough power for you can always replace the stock turbo with a bigger one, get a bigger FMIC, add larger injectors, fuel pump, etc. and you can put down around 350 to 450WHP and all this with the stock internals. You could go even further but all that power starts to get out of hand for a FWD car to handle on street tires.
Honestly if I only had $20K to spend on a new performance car this would be it, and I could careless if it’s a Neon. BTW, my nephew’s SRT-4 has a little over 20K miles now and hasn’t had any problems yet and he takes it to the drag strip almost every weekend since he’s had it.

i would never own one, just cause i don't drive fast or race anyone.
but for the money, i don't think you can get much faster than that. I actually really like the car, i would just never buy one. I would tell my friends to buy one, just so i can drive it once in a while
i have yet to hear much about the relability, but that would also scare me

I would believe stepping down from a CL would make you miss all the little tidbits of pampering your entry level luxury coupe has to offer for you.
I'm not going to go and say that "it's just a neon", cause honestly, it's an amazing car for the money. It's purpose built, and it fulfills its purpose well. The performance and potential is amazing. You just really can't get a better performance deal for the buck.
But like someone said above, I wouldnt' get it cause I don't have an addiction to speed. I hardly punch the pedal, and I drive like a grandmal; no need for one.
Now, on the other hand; I WOULD be apprehensive about buying one, especially used, as I do not doubt that every one of these cars have been raced and ragged to death. Of course there are the ones that mod correctly, and maintain well, and baby their cars; but I would imagine those owners still have their srt4's.

A freind of mine has an SRT4/I have one as well and actually its a very fun car to drive! But beware the insurance costs for the car. A couple things to remember, the car doesnt come with cruise control or rear power windows
. The reliability shouldn't be a concern because the engine is built very well. But of course that all depends on how you abuse it.

It depends on what you want...the power to $ ratio is right on with the SRT4, but creature comforts you may have expected with your acura wont be there.
Since you found a cheap one, Im assuming its an '03. '03s were the only SRT4 to come without LSD and some changes to the PCV system were redesigned, but thats about it. As far as reliability they are awesome. Very few people have issues that weren't their fault.

Personally, Ive enjoyed my PT GT a little more than I would have an SRT for a few reasons: A lot more room, more options (power windows, cruise control, leather, etc). The only thing that the SRT4 gets that we dont are Stages II and up and LSD. But I understand the body is a huge disadvatage for most as well

Oh yea...and it doesnt take much to make them look great, imo.

I personally couldn't live without the luxury features that even my 1st gen TL has. I've become accustomed to leather, a nice comfortable ride, power everything and auto climate control (especially this one!).
It's not that bad. I've driven one for a week. I was considering it before I got the used 6mt cls. It is a little loud, and the fact it didn't have cruise, or rear power windows turned me off.
The power was nice, & it was fun to drive. It was also a race attraction. Every other car seemed to want to race.
I agree for the $$ & if speed is your #1 thing. Nothing beats an SRT-4.

Jerry honestly the car is a major machine with a little mods can become more of a monster, but once you get sick of it , no one will want it, unlike the RSX-S. If you get the RSX make sure it's the S , makes no sense to buy a base model when your civic was faster. Anyway good luck..
in one word have a modded Srt-4 is "Tractionless". i have seen so many get beat, but at the same time i have seen so many win. They sound amazing, and with the mopar upgrades its easy to get bit hp. BOOOOOOOOOoStt
Face it, the SRT is a hot car. Whether it is a neon or not is irrelevant. It it a performance vehicle, and if you are looking for a cheap performance vehicle, this is the car for you. My little bro's friend has one and i'm in it all the time. He has about 460 ho to the wheels and the car is so civil for daily use. Especially with the dial-a-boost on the stage 2 turbo toys.
if you want to retain the luxury aspect under the same price range, consider the IS300. good contender seeing as it has the lux, potential to be modded to go
, RWD and then there's the M-A/T option. but if you want to go fast and you're able to shell out a little more, go for a C5 Corvette. i'm seriously thinking of going on to this next. the great thing is that there are many with low mileage. post your decision.

Get a WRX wagon....at least it isnt a neon.

And what does that mean, explain it.
Performance is performance, nothing can take away from that. This whole neon thing seems like a way for Honda folks to excuse themselves, well, you are excused.
stock srt-4's are very fast. actually faster than any acura other than an NSX. but it is all subjective. if you want cheap speed get a srt-4, if you want a well rounded package get an Acura(rsx-s).
I went to the Dodge Dealership today wanting to test drive one and the Sales Associate was a dick and he wouldn't let me test drive one........I went to the Acura Dealership and test drove an 02 RSX-S and man does that car pull or what. I actually felt bad for the Sales Associate that was riding with me cause I drove the car like a stole it on the back road he told me to go and I actually like how the car feels. If I can test drive the SRT4 I'll see how different it feels. Remember pplz luxury is gone for me cause as you can see my mom took away my baby (CL) and I got a POS civic in return which hurt me a lot but I adapted and got used to not having leather seats. If I found an IS300 I'll be damned if that was going for cheap but then the insurance would sky rocket like no other because of the fact that it's a luxury car as well. I thank of you people here on this forum for expressing your opinions about this car.
The SRT-4 really is a fast car. It is noticeably faster than an RSX-S, and those things are really easy to mod. Unfortunately, while I hate to say somethign so superficial, its still a Neon. And if you were trying to replace a neon-like car, i'd agree with the choice of the Neon, but i dont think its a suitable replacement for the CL. On top of that, they're canning the neon alltogether after this year (I dont know if that affects your decision or not, but I always try not to buy cars at the end of their run). I think the RSX-S is a viable option, but I think if you're going to look at that, you have to give the new Civic SI a shot. I suppose
someone could just say, "its still a civic"...but its still a civic thats faster than an RSX-S, comes with LSD, and has optional nav. Even the boys over at clubrsx.com agree that its possibly a better bang for your buck than the RSX-S. So I'd keep that in your mind. Just my 2 cents.

Personally, I would go onto srtforums and introduce yourself. Go to one of the meets, talk to the owners. Most on the forums are very laid back and Im sure they wouldnt mind giving you a ride...Id be surprised if one didnt offer to let you drive theirs.
