You know the car where it was hot before but they ruined it. Its the car thats still ugly even after a year of trying to get use to it...

It hasn't been out a year yet, but I HATE the way they redesigned the Jetta. I 'd the 4th gen, but the 5th gen just doesn't do it for me.

I think so too. I DO NOT like the Bangle Mangle...but it sounds like sales have picked up and these styles are getting more popular.

Got some more to add in the list:

Maxima and Accord, have gone downhill in terms of styling.
The current Civic SI looks ugly compared to the '00 Civic SI.
'00 Lexus ES300 looks 100x better then the ES330.

Now, is this thread about cars that died sales wise or had poor styling? If the issue here is styling then you're right. But the Accord and ES330 are still successful when it comes to sales.

But you bring up a good example. The Civic Si. The thing's a flop. We had high expectations because of its legendary heritage and we were let down bigtime (in sales and styling).

How about the Sentra SE-R. Again, it had good potential and ended up being a bit of a letdown.

Hmm...the only one I can agree with here is the 1st Gen RL. I like the 2nd gen CL and RSX...they're good, fun cars.

the main one I think of is the current Accord sedan. it's been out for 2.5 years and I still wouldn't trade my beater(94 Accord) for a 05 Accord Sedan.
I don't know if you guys are into trucks.
-New F-250/350s super duty. the 99-04 series was good looking truck. then this year they put that HUGE funky chrome grille on it and they didn't do enough to them. when they restyled them. it was a let down.
- New Silverados. about 02(i believe) Chevy went with the Avalanche front end . those damn headlights don't go with the pickup. the 01's look 100 times better. Matter of fact if I was to order a diesel pickup I think I'd go with a GMC Sierra 2500(which is basically the old front end Silverado) 4x4.

-I'm gonna probaly get hammered for this one. the 94-97 Mustangs IMO were the hottest Mustangs made(and still till today)in 98 the looks went down hill a little. and the newest style they went stright to hell.

- another one "the jury still out on" IMO is the new Benz SLK. I don't like the HUGE Mercedes symbol in the front end but It's trying to win me over.

Wow, I'm surprised you don't like the last to Mustangs. The 94 Stang was a huge improvement but comparing that to the 98...the 94 looks like a panzy. And now that the 05s are out, it's "halleluiah, the Mustang is back!"

I wish I was kidding. The 6 series is alright...everything else has gotten the inverse-Midas Touch...Bangle touched gold and turned it to crap. The 3, 5 and 7 series used to be stoic, stately but still fun and aggressive looking. The new style looks...I don't know...pudgy and squishy. The Z4 is just plain hideous.

im not a fan of any of the new BMW's. the classic days were hot. theyre slipping backwards and falling in useless technology.

Civic Si was the real letdown. i remember back then everybody was into the Si in the 90's. that car had some awesome potential, until they turned it into a hatch and made it look like a bug.. stupid bulgy eyes and nonsporty looks just turned all tuners off.

eclipse too. wtfreak did they do?? the 2nd gen had its own distictive good looks. it was different but stood out with its nicely curved designs. then they came out with that ugly piece of...

what i didnt like about Phile's comments were that he's on an acura site and making comments on only acura's. booooooooooo

acura's are hot! haha my first car was the RSX-s. i didnt like the twin circle headlamps on the teg. the RL did lose some nice designs from the legend, but it was a nice big luxury vehicle. they kept it clean and sharp looking. the second gen CL didnt look like any other acura's in the lineup, but had its own sharp look up front and a nice rounded butt at the rear. sorta looks like the new accord coupe.. yeah i wasnt TOO big of a fan of the CL's. but that's why im driving around in the 2nd gen TL. but cl's are still definitly hot cars. just wish they made it for the third gen.

THE NEW BMWS ARE HORRIBLE!!!!!!! the style that BMW had in 2000-2003 was so much better

i also think that TOYOTA has went to shit in the past decade, they used to have a pretty nice line up with the supra, ae86 and the other corolla coupes, and mr2 turbo, but now all they have are boring economy cars for old families....toyota/lexus NEEDS a new sports coupe to compete with the 350z, g35, s2000, shit like that....at least acuras family cars are more sport and stylish looking...TOYOTA/LEXUS is so fucking generic it makes me sick

I'd say the the new MUSTANGS look horrible compared to ALL its previous generations
VW Golf and Jetta also got messed up
2nd Gen TL looks MUCH better than 3rd gen

I know it hasn't been out for a year or more but rather a month or so but the new Mercedes ML is probably the ugliest SUV ever built. It looks horrible!!! And the Lexus RX is on the line as well.

The old CLK looks much more expensive and more elegant then the current one that looks like a cheaper C-class Benz.

I might get flamed for this statement but :
I was kind of disappointed in the new RL redesign recently:
yes it was a major improvement over the old gen RL,but I feel it doesn't doesn't look as good as a BMW 5 series or Benz E class. and the E class styling is one of the older ones in the class.

IMO: the 5 series is the best looking cars in it's class. now if they could just get the electronic grimlins out of it. I'd think about it.

My thoughts on Mercedes styling lately. they've either done a really good job or really crappy job.

I saw a new M class(their little SUV) on the road the other day. Wanna talk about crappy looking. even the old G class the "rolling brick" as I called the G500s was better looking than the new M class.

However I've seen pictures of that SLR(grant it close to 1/2 million dollar car) but that's pure PIMP.

The SLKs I'll have to see in person. I've seen press photos that look good and ones that look like shit.
