Well, the time has finally come.

I posted about this on First Gen, but thought i'd put it up here, in a shameless attempt to get more replys. I know what your thinking - something about mental problems - but just put that in the back of your mind for now.

I've finally parted with my CL. It had 160k on it, and it was time to part, since I need something more reliable for my daily drive. For those of you who don't remember or know me, hit my homepage to get some images.

I hate you all for tempting me to spend so much on it, but in hindsight, you were all absolutly right. Spending the money I did made the car something special, and I won't soon forget the 5 years I had her.

That being said, I'm the proud new owner of a 2k3 Mini Cooper S. This things is a blast to drive. Faster than the CL, corners as well as my old 87 Porsche 924S did, and has far fewer miles than anything i've owned before. The clutch on it is terrific, its very short and reminds me again of the Porsche. I also love the way it rips through the gears on the 6-speed tranny. For 163HP, this thing really has some go. The only pics I have now are from the dealer site, so when looking at this, if you have any thoughts along the lines of "Why did this idiot spend so much?" (ed. note: I don't think I overpaid much if any) please just hold your tounge (sp?) and let me enjoy the first car i've bought in 5 years.

Here she is!

Only thing about the Mini is its poor showing on JD Power initial quality survey. I personally have a couple of personal complaints about it (re: hood release on the right side (are they too cheap to have it on the left side?), speedo in the center of the dash, etc)

I'm sure it handles great but something about it doesn't sit well with me. I'd rather go with a used S2k over a new Mini.

^^ meh the bonnet release location is moot...it's not like you are popping open the bonnet everyday. The speedo in the center of the dash is also a moot point....there is a digital readout on the tach on top of the steering wheel.
