Well...my beater was trouble free.....for 4 whole months!

GODDAMN beater. The thing was running like a champ, then yesterday, my sister (she takes the car to school in the city, so I drive her Jetta 1.8T during the week) calls me and tells me the car shakes bad at idle and it sputters when you give it gas! So AAA came and towed the car to my friends dealership, and he said it sounds like an EGR valve?????

What would make a car all of the sudden idle rough, and sputter on acceleration?
Fuel injectors
EGR Valve
Fouled Spark Plugs
...I have no clue, but I don't wanna spend a dime on this car, now I have to....the Cobra isn't coming out until spring.

Shouldnt be too expensive to fix. Also check the fuel filter, it could be as simple as that and they are nox expensive to fix as wll

Plugs and or plug wires. My winter unit did this to me last year and it turned out to be the plug wires. The shop also told me I should change out the fuel filter so i did. I'll tell you, it was good one day, and then all of a sudden it happened. Kinda sounds like your situation.

when it happens that fast, its usually not the filter or plugs. Those you can feel getting worse with time. Check the EGR, Idle air control, air, mass air flow sensor.

Get this (remeber, I wasn't driving it when it had its problem)....there is a bolt missing from the steering knuckle, which makes the entire brake assembly loose....causing it to shake coming to a stop and binding the caliper making it stick, essentially doing kind of a break tourque. Its a $10 bolt....WTF!
