Warning Ticket for Speeding?

Warning Ticket for Speeding?
So what does a warning ticket actually do? I got pulled over yesterday for going 78 in a 65 zone. He said the laser got an Acura TL at 78. First of all, since when do lasers tell you what type of car it caught? In any case I asked what the result of a warning ticket is and he said it stays on my record for 5 years and basically next time I get pulled over I wouldnt be getting a warning.
I got one of those pink slips..the one that would be given to you if you had a broken tail light or such. The slip has the DMV stuff written on it saying repairs need to be made in 20 days blah blah blah. I just don't see it going on my record especially for 5 years..
btw..the tips about rolling down all of the windows, placing your keys on the dash, both hands on the steering wheel, and being very polite are im sure helpful in me not getting a ticket.

cops spend hours looking at flash card pics of every car made- so they can look and know a TL from a Lexus coming at them
The car they clocked was the TL -Your Honor
the laser is pinpoint precise targeting- not like the old days when a truck could alter a reading and you get blamed.
A record of the Warning goes in the computer- all the police cars have them- when they run your license, they ask you- hows your record?
Here is a hint-
No cop ever ask you a question they do not already have the answer to!
Remember in The Blues Brothers-- when they get pulled over-
I bet they've got SCMODS!!
State County Munipal Offender Database
So if you get stopped for speeding again- its going to pop up on the screen, and you will get a ticket for the speed clocked- no discounts~
Totally correct about windows down- keys- hands visable-
NO burying the drugs/gun/knife type movements are always in your favor too!!
They appreciate -when you stop- seeing the brakes lights on- reverse lights flash as you go thru R into Park,-brake lights off- car off
Notice how Officers touch a car when they approach... to see if its running

yeah thankfully it was only a warning and not a ticket.
ok so it goes into their database..does their database actually keep the offense for 5 years? also im assuming that each state has their own database right? so if i get a ticket (which im not planning to) out of state those POs won't see it right?

I'm pretty sure it only stays in the database of the town you were pulled over in. Unless it was a state police, im not sure then. Because ive been pulled over in the same town and he brought up the last thing i got a warning for. But when i get pulled over in a different town, they dont mention any of the warnings from other towns.

My TL can do this, too!

I'd assume that in CT your info might not travel into other states. But maybe it would, considering that a CT driver would be more likely to drive into another state than a resident of a geographically larger state.
I got a warning from a policeman a few months back for "driving on the shoulder". What I actually did was cut off a cop who was about to bust another guy for driving on the shoulder! How I got away from that with only a warning I'll never know. I consider myself very lucky!

Your post was pretty accurate up to this statement. LEOs actually touch the vehicle to leave their finger print behind just in case the stop goes fubar and the LEO is injured/killed. Once the vehicle is located, they just need to find the print.

Haha I got out of a ticket Thursday. The trooper knew my father who is a cop. I didn't want to use the my-dads-a-cop thing but I had to after he said he was going to give me a ticket for 74 in a 55.

Yeah - good job on shutting off the car, etc. Happened to me a few weeks back on my way home from mountain biking (driving the Civic). I was flying down a back road (goes from 55 to 45 to 35 in a short distance - I was still doing about 50 when I hit the 35 zone) when I passed a State Trooper going the other way. He flipped on his lights right as I passed him, so I knew he clocked me. I made sure to pull over as soon as I could in a parking lot (not hanging his butt into the road) and roll down the window and shut off the car and not move until he asked me for things (I had to dig through my gym bag to get my license). After I admitted to going a bit fast, he basically told me to take it easy and then chatted with me for about 5 minutes about mountain biking.

I don't know about CT, but I got one of these in MA a few years back. The Officer told me that it counts as a ticket towards the "3 in a year rule" but didn't give you any insurance points. The 3 in a year rule is 3 tickets for speeding in a 12 month period and you lose your license for a short period of time, I think it's 30 days.

I got a ticket last weekend too, for 80 in a 55. He didn't write it up that way though, instead gave me a ticket for "failure to comply with traffic control device", no points and half the fine amount, so no big deal really. I was just pissed that he never asked me why I was in a hurry, I always have a few good lies ready to go!!

I got pulled over a few days ago for doing 66 in a 50 I'll explain:
I was in a part of town i had never been in seeking a speed limit sign here in NJ most highways are 50-55 and I was assuming 55 as it was a big 3 lane road on both sides. So I'm cruising along and pass a cop who begins to come out of his hiding spot and from that point i knew i was getting pulled over. I treat all cops the same he got behind me popped his lights i pulled over immediately into a safe spot for me and him...parked the car, turned on my warning lights, and got my license/reg/insurance out before he could get to me. Explained simply that I was lost (had my GPS on) pointed at the GPS said see...he asked me a few questions
"Son do you know how fast you were going?"
me- "60-65 sir"
"I clocked you at 66" (so right there he knew I wasn't lieing or trying to bs him)
Him- "Do you know the speed limit here?"
me- "No I am not from around here." (I was in retrospec of where I lived I just don't drive south. He pointed this out I explained I work north never come south and pointed out my GPS again)
Him Again - "Do you have any points on your license?"
me - "No sir nothing"
He walked back to his car and within maybe 10 seconds was back to my window and just asked that I slow it down no warning ticket just politeness. Probably helped that I looked sick as a dog and wasnt having the best day.
All in all he was nice for a state trooper most troopers dont give warnings here...its tickets for everyone.

Depending on the township, city, sheriffs office, etc. a warning is sometimes filed for a certain period of time (in your case 5 years), so if you get pulled over in that same township again, they will see that you have been warned before. But only that township can see that. I have also never heard of a warning affecting you insurance rates as well. BTW, when being polite to the officer and leaving your hands in plain view, is the best thing to do when pulled over for a traffic stop.

I work in the local Emergency Dept down here and run into alot of officers on the job. To date I have gotten at least 6 warnings and no tickets in the last 3 years. The last one I got was the only one that he actually filled in a ticket slip with the warning (they usually just recognize me and let me go). +1 for the turning the car off/hands on the wheel/politeness stuff. They really appreciate that....
