Ward's Automotive - best car interiors of 2011
http://www.autoblog.com/2011/04/11/w...riors-of-2011/
Wards Automotive takes its 10 Best Interior awards seriously. The industry mag tested 51 vehicles to come up with this year's winners, which span three luxury vehicles, three economy cars, a sport sedan, a minivan, a family sedan and an SUV. Ward's AutoWorld Editor-in-Chief Drew Winter says the publication has never tested so many vehicles, adding, "Every auto maker wants the freshest, highest-quality interior possible for all the vehicles they sell."
Showing just how much the world of interiors has changed over the years, Chrysler was the only automaker to take home two awards, thanks to the Dodge Charger and Jeep Grand Cherokee, while Kia and Hyundai could technically say the same since the Elantra and Optima each took home honors. At the same time, both Toyota and Lexus were shut out, as was Honda's Acura luxury brand and Mercedes-Benz.
Among the first-time winners for 2011 are the Ford Focus Titanium and Chevy Cruze. Click on the image above to browse through all 10 winners, or you can head over to Wards Automotive for the complete scoop.
What do you think – Did Wards get it right? If not, what was left out and what should it replace?

I wonder how they did the judging? Was it based on quality of materials used, layout, ergonomics, user friendliness, seating positions, cool gadgets, etc.....?

surprised the charger made it too. Maybe i would award the "most improved" interior, but in the top 10 idk. Also, while the 5 is excellent im sure, isnt anyone else bored to death by the inside of beamers D:

not surprised Acura isn't on the last if quality of materials is a contributing factor. those plastic interior door release are doing nothing for the Honda/Acura brands, they need to stop that pronto. the chrome plated ones were solid and looked much better.

Wow, just actually looked at it..what we're they thinking putting the Optima up there? It looks like the inside of a mid 90's Saab, and the Optima doesnt even come with the "night panel" ![Ninja](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/ninja.gif)
Even the S60 looks a bit.."utilitarian"

No Acuras? Really? That is the one place where Acura CONSISTENTLY does well IMHO.
...and of course, Audi.

Let's see how those Dodge and Hyundai interiors stand the test of time.

I think the new chargers look great, both on the outside and inside. I like the more aggressive exterior with the more luxurious interior.
I don't agree with the Hyundai or Kia though.

Compared to what?
A 2011 accord or camry has WAY more cheap plastic and cheap materials in them than a new charger.
I'll put my money on the charger lasting longer and staying quieter.
I have no personal experience with the hyundai so I can't comment. Perhaps one of our many new genesis owners can chime in.

The sizzle in the Steak
I'm sure the materials are above the bar, but they need some serious design help......however I will add it's an improvement over the last gen.
Like I have said all along....stay tuned to Chrysler in the next 3-5 years....that's when I believe we will see some fantastic stuff.

I just can't tell what criteria may have been used. Regardless, this is a very weak 'Best Interiors' list. Notables:
Audi - yes.
Charger & Jeep - Ok, but not sure why they made the 'Best' list.
X3 - workmanship and materials - boring otherwise.
Volvo - WhiskeyTangoHotel? Seats - maybe?
Audi - yes.

Regardless, now I have one more good thing I can say about the Optima. I think they look pretty damn good. The interior isn't mind blowing by any standard, but it does look and feel well thought out.

the judging "span three luxury vehicles, three economy cars, a sport sedan, a minivan, a family sedan and an SUV"
well, that really takes the excitement out of it...
not only is it shuffled amongst vehicles types, but its purposely shuffled amongst brands. wald has no balls. they tried to favor everyone and everything at once. this is a very stupid top 10 study, its not even worth arguing against the 10 selected.

as for the comments on the dodge interior: sure, its of above grade quality materials, but the design is seriously lacking...i mean, you could eat a lot of fiber and take a nice, quality shit...but its still going to look and smell like shit. haha, this is a horrible analogy. i mean....you could stick your head up a bulls ass......
