VW Golf R32

What are people's impressions of the VW Golf R32, or simply "R32" as it will be known? Take a standard Golf, drop in a narrow-angle 3.2 liter V6, add 4Motion AWD, and you basically have an R32. There are a bunch of other trick goodies are in the car, but I don't have enough time to list them all. More info here:

Thoughts anyone?

I'd prefer the TT with that same engine and that new cool tranny.

I like it. It looks like VW is starting to get back in the sportscar market.

Heck, I've been waiting for VW to come up with a sucessor to the old Corrado...

Well Golf/GTI is the only vehicle I like in the whole Volkswagen lineup, adding a R32 sure is a good thing.....

Volkswagen should replace this new 3.2L engine with the old 2.8L in Passat and get rid of the ridiculous W8.

gavriil,

You've got your wish. Check out the new issue of Road & Track, a 3.2 Audi TT.

Sorry dmcconnell, I was not clear. That's the car I was referring to. It sounded like I was referring to an imaginary car, but I knew about the Audi TT 3.2 DSG. Hence my reference to the "cool tranny".

Can soneone explain to me the new "cool tranny" in the TT? Is it better than the BMW SMG tranny?

The tranny on the Audi is supposed to be a bit smoother, and less cumbersome, than the BMW SMG. From what the Road and Track article said, the gearchanges are smooth, especially when the tranny is in automatic mode. The gearchanges, when in automatic mode, where called "transparent".

Isn't the current "Golf" due for a makeover? Wonder if the R32 is just another way to keep moving units at the end of the its life cycle?

What's the R32 price point? $30K?
