Valentine One parts
Planning to buy a Valentine One V1.7 from someone. The thing is, he's missing all the parts except the windsheild mount. He's selling it for pretty cheap so what parts do I need to buy to make it work? Here's a link to the Valentine website parts.. https://store.valentine1.com/store/d...gory=partsdept . I've only heard good things about this radar detector and can't wait to hook this up!

Unless you're sure he didn't steal it, I'd ask for the serial number and call Valentine and verify it. If it's reported stolen to them and you ever send it in for an upgrade, they'll send it back to the original owner and you're out a V1.

The latest version has POP coverage. I got mine late last year, and it was just after they came out with the latest version.
v1.8 will say P, O, P upon boot-up. v1.7 will not. Also, my v1.8 is picking up signals a lot better than my friends' v1.7 V1's. We were driving on the highway the other day, and my V1 chirped Ka warning. I radioed and told the guys to slow down, and they were like, "we didn't get anything on our V1." When mine was registering at about 3 bars, theirs finally started picking up the signal.
So yeah... get the upgrade. Or buy a new one and have the peace of mind knowing that yours is brand new and fully backed by V1. The resale value on these things is crazy and they are going for like 380 on eBay USED. You can get a brand new one for like 415. A main reason I decided to buy new.

The upgrade feature on the V1 is great, but as posted above it’s cheaper to just sell it on EBAY and buy a new one.
I’ve done it THREE times since I got my first V1 back in 1992.
PS…. I wouldn’t buy an old one that’s missing parts unless it was like 150 bucks.
