UPDATE 7-13-11....Merry Christmas to me-I bought a Lamborghini!

Well, I decided to "just do it"-I bought a Lamborghini Reventon. But I didn't pay the big bucks for a real one. I got this 1/18 scale Reventon from Replicars.com.

I don't know if it's the next best thing to owning the real thing, but....

The detail is nice-even down to the carbon fiber.

You'd think if you could afford a Reventon, the least you could do is treat it a nice clay bar/polish treatment. I see a lot of imperfections in the paint.

Nice replica!

Give it to Todd...he'll get that paint 110% in no time.

Seriously, though Steve, I thought you were serious.

I know!!! I'm going to work on that tomorrow. I'll do a repost when I clean it up.

Portland, I WISH I was serious. I get on Cars.com and look at them-just to salivate. They've got some for $75k-I wish I could afford one.

I had a nice "surprise"(?) last week. Some extra cash appeared in my investment cash account from muni's (maturing?). I have to admit that I was tempted to go out and buy a CTS-V, but I held off. I paid off my mortgage instead. I had 20 years left on a 30-year fixed but since I have gone ahead and retired, I figured, what the hey. Free up some cash. I does feel strange.

Awesome... Congratz!!! It's such a delicate balance to live within your means and enjoy life.

Getting rid of debt is one of my main goals. I have a 2nd mortgage I plan on paying off very soon. The 1st mortgage, though, is going to be a monster

Thanks. I wasn't trying to steal your fire with your "new" car. I got laid off in September. We knew for two years that it was coming, so I started doing some serious financial planning last year. Since I was around 2 1/2 years away from retiring anyway (my pick), I decided to go ahead and do the early retirement thing. Took a few months to get used to it, but now, it's great. One side of me hated to take that cash and pay off the note, but the other side (and my financial adviser) suggested it was really the better route to take. Puts me in a nice situation, too.

Congratulations to your January retirement, too. BTW, were you one of the Blue Angels?

I tend to be fiscally conservative so I never get that close to living at the top of my monthly income. Prudence, and watching others, has shown me it is best to stay well within your means and enjoy everything you have managed to acquire.

Have a super holiday and successful new year.

Dang that's nice! Who's the manufacturer? Funny... I just got finished wiping down my 1/18 collection about 20 minutes ago.

Thanks buddy. I just saw my savings and retirement accounts going south, so why not take that money and put it towards something that will appreciate in value instead of losing money in a retirement account.

I was lucky enough to fly with the Blue Angels 4 days before my daughter was born! I actually got to fly the F/A-18 Hornet myself!!! It was the thrill of a lifetime. By far, the coolest thing I've ever done, by myself, in my entire life. I grew up in a military family, so this is all very near and dear to my heart.

KnightRider, you made me laugh with the "wipe down" comment! The car is made by AutoArtModels.com. I got the Reventon from Repli

I have to believe there is nothing quite like being behind the stick in a modern U.S. fighter plane. The reason I asked that question was because my wife for for NavAir for almost 21 years (civilian). For the past half of that time, she was responsible for getting Naval flight officers kits together for their placement in school at Pensacola. The last half of her time there, she did this for the pilot and the second seater.

Here's some more "clean" shots....

As you can see, the detail (even underneath the car) is actually quite nice. As you can see, even the rear vents work!

This reminds me of a model Murcielago I had a couple of years ago. It came in as many pieces as is physically possible, and I painstakingly put it together. Took me 3 months.

Then I found the instruction manual. It had fallen behind the desk

Congrats! You had me fooled, I thought you had bought a classic Lamborghini. But this will be a classic soon enough!

I wonder how that Diablo would compare with modern super-cars...

Nice model, I have an M3 from them. If you want to do close-up shots, put the camera in macro-mode (the flower icon)

You are correct my friend! But I couldn't use the Lambo for a daily driver in Kansas City. So darn!!! It would have to be a 2nd car!!
