The Unofficial Defectors to Audi Thread

A thread for those of us who gave up on Acura and fled to the four rings like a bunch of cucks FFS. We'll even allow @Yumcha in his Hyundai Optima in.

I guess I wanted this to be general discussion, but I figure I'd start with "where did you come from in Acura?", "which 'krautmobile' do you drive now?", what are your likes and dislikes.

My last Acura was a TSX but I'm on an S4 now (aka VW Jetta, apparently).

Likes:
Engine, NVH, comfort, sound in dynamic mode

Dislikes:
Bang & Olufssen trim pieces on the door speakers break off.

My last Acura was the 3.2CL Type S...which I got rid of back in 2009 to get into the Infiniti FX50S. The cross-over is still alive and well and after tiring of our MINI Countryman All4, we traded that for a 2019 Audi S5 Sportback that is now known as the "Hyundai Optima" -- in honor of a guy who asked me about the sedan when I had gotten out after parking it (Him: "Nice car...is that that new Hyunda Optima?"; Me: "Yes. It is. Those Koreans!").

The departed Saintor has been rumored to have gotten his S5 before me but I banned his Frenchie @$$ for such an outrage. Or so, that's the story I'm sticking with regarding his fate.

I really hope the Audi is more comfortable than the Jetta, my 2019 fleet is terribly uncomfortable and I've never had so much back sweat in a car.

Last Acura was a 2003 CL Type S. Then a Mazdaspeed 6. AWD sold me. Mazda was too fragile. Defected to Audi in 2008 for an A4. Now A3 Stage One. At this point I don't think I will ever have any other CAR brand.

No cooling seats? Don't you just open the windows in Canada? Seems like "existing" is enough to cool your seat

My car has plenty of Audi parts under the hood, from what I can tell by looking in there and seeing all the parts.

Difference is that people just think I'm a cheap ass driving an economy car.

Last Acura was a boosted '03 CLS6.

I've since gone through a slew of other vehicles:
• '06 R53 JCW GP
• '17 ISt F
• '01 B5 S4 Stage 2
• '09 B8 S5 V8 (current)
Likes: Reliability, simplicity, power, & AWD!
Dislikes: No automatic folding side mirrors or retractable sunroof

With the exception of a Lotus Esprit '97-'02 at some point, I don't think I'll ever own another car that doesn't have four rings as it's logo.

They're solid, solid, solid vehicles; especially in their element.

Nope, but it certainly has that "sorry officer, there's no way this little econobox could be going that fast" kind of look to it.

Drove a 488 GTB this weekend. I honestly could never own one, but that thing was another level of incredible.

I feel like if it makes it I might own an Alfa someday (it's in my blood), but I'll stick with the four rings for now

I doubt I would buy a ferrari or lambo if I ever had the money...I mean Alfa, but I know you knew that. I'm still preaching the pure overall driving feel trumps anything else on the road right now.

No. Opening windows means my face and front gets cold and I don't want erect nipples.

I just want a cool back.

I mean back in 2006, yes... but haven't had an Audi in almost a decade now. Went to Mercedes and now I'm a BMW guy (although my ex still has the E63-S)...

Been in a 4c and that thing was amazing. I seriously considered it when my buddy sold it... but it was just in the shop too much for my liking and I passed on it. I do have my eye on the SUV for down the road...

Previous car: 2008 Acura TL-S. Had for 10yrs and could not wait any longer for next gen Type S so I gave in and got an Audi S5 Sportback. Love it so far!

Dislikes:
Throttle response in "D" mode, Audi pre-sense random whiplash due to false alerts (happened only once), some aftermarket support but could use more. only recently cracked the ECU to start tuning the B9 3.0t.

I'm excited to see B9 / tuning leave the infancy stage ..

Like days when I use my cooling seats or steering wheel warmer.

Join the Audi Cub of Houston Facebook page! It's a VERY active and large group. We just had a (very aggressive) back country drive from Waller to Sam Houston National Forest. We have a dinner this Saturday at Warehouse 72. Come by if you can!!

The APR B9 tune should be out within a month or so, and hopefully the TCU tune will follow shortly after (the TCU tune will make a BIG difference in response). If you need anything for your car, E1 Motorsports has done all the tuning/installs/maintenance on my car.
