That is way too sexy, VW is definitely at their mecca of styling. The whole Audi, Lamborghini, Bentley, and VW lineup is excellent styling wise. They are in the same price range also, and come in both FWD and AWD flavors.

Standard engine for the U.S. will be the GTI's 197-horsepower, 2.0-liter TSI turbo four, with front drive and six-speed manual or automatic. The 3.6-liter FSI V-6, rated 295 horsepower and with 4Motion all-wheel drive only, will come with a six-speed Tiptronic automatic (a DSG is available with this engine in Europe). It will be well equipped with Navi and the like.
It has features like lane-departure where the car steers itself and can re-direct the vehicle back into its lane automatically should it begin to stray. Sensors in the front of the car can maintain a pre-set following distance when the cruise control is activated, and the same system can also pre-charge the brakes in anticipation of a collision that it calculates to be imminent.
Also has Dynamic Drive Control that allows drivers to select settings from sport to comfort.

You sure about this. The 09 2.0T engine will have 211 ponies and 258 torque at about 1600 RPMs.

all the vw/audi's that had a 2.0T will get the updated 2.0T but only the one for the A4 has the extra valve-lift for that boost in hp/torque. the others stay about the same hp/tq as before.
the updated 2.0T now uses a timing chain instead of belt and has the oil filter on top and says TSI on the engine cover instead of FSI

word. hard to get over the emblem before appreciating the looks.
wonder what type of demographic this car will fit...its competitors (CL-S, soon to be A7, BMW X??) are are vastly most $$.
I'm envisioning HS / College kids with family pockets... or 30 yr old guidos who want to be pimp, but cant get into the 70k+ CL-S. (white w/ tinted windows, of course

There are many potential sales to be had with these 4 doors coupes, that VW may have scrambled to chop up an existing car and put it on showroom floors before the Audi and BMW knockoffs rolled out.

Edward sells these things, I'm pretty sure he knows that. He was probably referring to the TL as being Japanese in the sense that a Buick assembled in China is "American."

IMO VWs feel better built than comparable Honda/Acura models. They do have electrical gremlins, but they drive great also.

What I wanna know is how come people can't get over the VW badge but driving a Honda is ok? People say I'd rather drive an Audi than a VW, which is kinda understandable, but yet Honda/Acura never get separated like that. Makes no sense. As soon as VW is mentioned, people say "poor reliability". I've owned 2 dubs so far with no problems. Obviously Acura/Honda is very solid in the reliability dept, but you can't deny how far VW has come. i'd rather drive that Passat than any of Acura's current cars. IMO of course

I just find it amusing that VW is automatically labeled as almost a worthless brand, like they are not good enough to buy. They drive just as good as Audi's, hell they all have the same engines, offer the same ammenities, and look good too.
I guess it goes both ways. Say HONDA on Vortex and you hear the same kinda bashing. I don't really care, just wondered why it was like that when VW is mentioned. I guess its hard to change your image, just like Hyundai is now trying to do.

In Europe, their cars are really high quality. I don't know about quality control in the US, but here in Japan they are held in high regard. But it costs a fortune to fix.
And the style is nice. I think the TL (always an American car BTW) should have been styled in a similar vein. You know the CC is a VW, but it looks sharp.

ok. here is the origin of dislike, as clear as could be:
German pricing SUCKS when it comes to backcharges and non-standard features. This may be acceptable for the status of Merc, BMW, Audi or Porsche. But VW is the ONLY NON-LUXURY german, yet continues to follow this business format.
(while disregarding the shift in pricing due FX rates)
VW + standard needs, ahem sorry, OPTIONS (leather, sunroof, CD, etc.) and you reach Audi pricing. that doesnt make sense to me.

German cars have always been piece-meal when it comes to options.
You can get them exactly the way you want them.
There are plenty of cars around that can be had for less.....but German cars are what they are...and that's not going to change.

Honestly, when the Phaeton came out, I was like WOW, that is hot. I think VW produced the Phaeton just to say hey, look what we made. Sure it flopped, and I believe they knew it would too.
To this day, if I could afford it, I would own a Passat W8 4Motion wagon.
