Umm... Might trade evo for m3/// vert
So here is the deal... i love my evo to death but its maintance is killing me...
So i happen to go to a bmw dealership down here in south florida and i'm talking to the guy actually looking at a Z4-M which i apparently can aquire for about 500 a month...
So i test drive it and then he asks me if i'm interested in an M3/// vert.... and i'm telling the guy that i could never afford payments on that because its probably out of my range (500-550ish)
So he plugs the numbers in and says he is at the very low 600's on the m3 and i'm he says there is some room to play on the price... so i'm thinking
Should i sell my evo and lease an m3 vert and get a little money back from teh ev0 (not upsidedown)
Details on lease
MSRP: 64,000
Lease 36 Months 12k/year
4000 total out of pocket including all fees (so its really like 2500)
I still cant find anywhere giving a deal like this dealership... maybe its a scam to get me in to get serious w/ them and then they are like woops i cant do better than 800?
Hmm... I love the z4m Roadster but i'd rather get the M/// vert for like 50 more per month (thats what he said he can get the payments to)

M3 would be the next vehicle of choice for me as well. I would go for it ![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Is maintenance really that bad to make you want to sell your evo? I've only had one oil change so far, I'm saving money for maintenance knowing its real expensive. Money I could be using modding my car

if you want to go the convertible route - then the M3 and Z4 are solid choices. I'd prefer the Z4, just because of the smaller package and more "interesting" looks.
I'm having trouble understanding what figures you were quoted. Bottomline is:
- How much money down including all tax, fees, etc. and 1st month's payment?
- How much for subsequent months
- How much is the buyout
What are your intentions with the car. Do you plan to put over 12k miles on it? Do you plan to buy it at the end of the lease?
If you don't plan on buying it out, then realize that at the end of 3 years you would have spent 20k-30k and will have nothing to show for it.

I wouldn't either. I remember a few years ago seeing the local Mitsu dealers offering free basic maintenance for 24 months. Not sure if that was a national thing or not.

Manufacturers sometimes have promos to move cars that are sluggish. In the case of the M3 convertible, recognize that you're getting an E46 chassis. The only E46 still in production is the convertible -- coupes and sedans have converted over to the newer E90 platform. The E46 is a very nice car -- just realize that you're getting the last year of it.
That said, BMW's free scheduled maintenance is pretty nice, and in my experience, BMW dealers are nice to their customers. Techs LOVE working on ///M cars, too.
Make sure you can live with the 12k miles. If you have to bump it a little, you can buy up the mileage thru the BMW Owner's Circle web site. You can add in increments of 1k miles, and I think the cutoff is it has to be more than 9 months before the end of your lease. I added 1k miles to my M5 (which I turned out not to need) for $160.
I'm not sure how you can dismiss the $4k out of pocket and call it $2,500. What I think they're doing is buying down the monthly payments with a "capital cost reduction" -- in other words, a down payment. When you're buying, that can make sense. I've never done that on a lease, but I can live with the higher payments. I just don't like taking a big pile of cash out of my savings and giving it to a dealer for a car I'm never gonna own.
That said, a lot of people view the tradeoff as being better to pay a little more upfront, and then have lower payments for three years. It's all about your financial preferences.
Nice car, though. ///M cars have a way of putting a big, stoopid grin on your face every time you drive them.

I love your EVO its sick I can't imagine the maintenance on that but anyways. The M3 Vert is nice there is this red one around my way with a CF lip that looks absolutely stunnin. If you put a supercharger in that M3 it will be lovely too. The M roadster is sick too either is a good choice, the only BMW I would buy is one that has an M and not any other one. You put tons of work in the EVO so it may be hard to part with. Stick to your guns though don't let them jack you on the price.

Maintanence is pretty high if you want to correctly maintain the car...
Every 10k miles needs spark plug change,
Every 3k needs synthetic oil change,
Every 15k needs Tranny and Diff change (10k if you drive the evo like it was made)
Brakes every 15k (new pads and you should change rotors)
etc etc etc... plus you HAVE to wax every month or 2 because the car will fade...
there are more costs involved especially if you are out of warranty like me...
Like Clutch (not under warranty but i just remembered (easily 1k installed for a cheap or oem clutch)
Blowing a T-case is easily 2-3g's installed
...
These are costs without even modifying the car yet....
lol, costs are adding up
I dont know i went again and the salesman i talked to wasn't there and another guy (young guy) was denying such a deal... saying its more like 800 a month... etc etc..
We will see tommorow, i like the Z4M/// but if i can get into a M3/// vert for 50 more a month i would like the xtra room

Then again, an M3 vert is sweet
