Car has been running great, did my first oil change and I've been getting a lot of compliments at the few car meets I've been to.
I do have a question for AZ:
For those who have an expensive set of wheels, what added security have you put on your car aside from wheel locks?
Yesterday, my neighbor told me there were a few people looking at my car rather suspiciously. I'm not so worried about the car being stolen, but more so the wheels. IIRC, I think these Nismo 57F wheels go for $1200+ on the used market .. looks tempting to any person with prying eyes.
Luckily, I always park my car inside of the complex and I can usually snag a parking spot right under my bedroom window. I would rather not have an overly sensitive shock alarm, but this seems to fit the bill nicely:

Anybody have any experience with this? Will this work for the factory alarm?

^^^^Guard dog. Motion activated flame-thrower. Self-destruct mechanism. All would be good options.
In all seriousness, if someone really wants the wheels, or the car for that matter, they'll get them. Do enough to deter the amateurs (i.e an alarm and wheel locks). The pros will get you no matter what you do if they decide to target you. That's what insurance is for (unfortunately).

100% agreed T.
I just want to have some sense of security .. it makes my blood boil when I see people pictures of their cars on bricks.
I don't want to walk out to that in the morning, especially if I had thought about doing something in the past but never did.

On my old Civic I had two sets of OEM locks on each HFP wheel and a Viper 2-way alarm with tilt & proximity sensor.
The tilt sensor was great. If I jacked up the car from any angle while the alarm was activated, it would go off.

Exercise your 2nd amendment right in case someone decides to jack your shit! Who knows, we might not have that right soon...
Jk! lol. Tilt sensor FTW! Love the SE-R, congrats on the purchase!

Two different sets of wheel locks would likely do the job. Nothing worse IMO than an alarm that's going off endlessly, especially if it's when your car is parked under your bedroom window lol. So you still holding onto those stock SE-R wheels?

I think we're on the right track with 2 sets of wheel locks & a tilt sensor, thanks everybody
Todd, they're neatly stacked in my parents garage collecting dust. I don't have any plans on shipping these things out ... you wouldn't happen to be on your way to California any time soon would ya?

No unfortunately the only planned trips for the remainder of the year are east coast and Vegas. Even if I am heading back to the AZ office I'd be in a rental car. Hmm but I do get unlimited mileage. I wonder if they would fit in two huge suitcases. Hmmmmmmmm.

After 2651 miles and close to 2 months of ownership, I figured I'd give a little update on how the car is behaving.
I have noticed a few issues since owning the car:
1) - Creeky steering at slow speeds (mainly parking), could be something with the steering rack. I didn't see any leaking fluids but it feels solid and there's no difference in steering feel. Doesn't concern me too much, when it starts banging and making more noise I'll take it in and see what's what.
2) - Faint buzzing from timing chains on cold starts - goes away when the engine is warmed up, it means the timing chain guides are getting worn out. Somewhat common issues with VQ35DEs.
3) - Oil light comes on at idle after being warmed up with 0 oil pressure indicated on the gauge (Oil pressure responds to throttle, guage looks like it's working OK)
This one is a much bigger concern, but based on some research it could be a few things:
a: Bad Oil pressure sensor / sending unit (Common issue with SE-Rs)
b: Blown timing chain cover gasket (Big $$, have to tear down the motor. Since the timing chain guides are a little noisy, it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the guides, chains and water pump while the engine is apart).
I already bought a new oil pressure sensor and I will be installing it when it comes time for my next oil change, I'm hoping this will solve the oil light issue so I can leave replacing the chains & guides for later.
The good news:
Interior is solid, engine feels healthy and burned .25 quarts in 2600mi, speakers do not rattle, transmission shifts smooth for factory fluid (Redline coming soon).
Overall: I'm pleased with my used car purchase.
I'll update this thread as I get more mods installed, I have plans for a Y Pipe (J-pipe equivalent on the TL) and maybe some high flow cats.
Thanks for reading.

My friend had the same creaky steering issue on his Mustang, it ended up being tie rods.
Glad you're enjoying the car, and I hope you get the oil issue figured out soon.
I've been looking at AT V6 Altimas, they're rockets.

^ As stated above, I too had the creaky steering and it ended up being the outer tie rods on my old Civic. Actually I think it was the lower ball joints, I can't really remember.
Either way, you should get it checked out soon, even though it may not sound too bad now. Sounds like a catastrophe waiting to happen.

Despite having such a crazy work schedule as of late, I finally got some time to work on my Altima SE-R this weekend and install a few new goodies.
Since my last update, I've installed:
Nismo Intake
Racingline Y-pipe
On early Sunday morning after installing the Y-pipe, I decided to take her out for a drive. Here's a quick video getting onto the freeway, I'm loving the sound of the exhaust
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/dqPzuPwn7ag" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Car is running great, going to take the plunge and get a big timing chain / guide / waterpump service done when my tax return arrives.

Tyler, here's some pics .. they're from an iPhone

Looking at fixing the door handle, exhaust droop and dropping the front a little more, pics will follow once I coordinate a shoot with a G35 6mt Sedan
.
Thanks for looking.

Hey Todd!
It's been about 6 months since driving Accord and my memory is kind of hazy in the performance department, but I'm guessing the top end power is about the same now that I've added some breather mods and the Y-pipe. One thing the SE-R has over my Accord is torque .. if I do some ricer math I should be around 250tq to the wheels.
.
I'll post more updates as they come, high flow cats are in the future.
How's that Rav4 compared to your Accord? I wouldn't be shocked if it was close, I've heard them running under 15 seconds at the track.

Had to whip out the iPhone to listen to the video cuz the work computer blocks youtube.
Sounds great man, nice deep tone!
Any real difference in the transmission vs your Accord? The shifting, clutch release, shorter/longer throws?

This car has a very similar clutch engagement like the Accord but I can tell it's a little more forgiving.
The car has an aftermarket clutch / JWT flywheel and the pedal is pretty stiff, it's a lot stiffer than the Accords. I've grown to like it because as you can see in the video, the revs drop quickly and makes rowing gears a little more fun. On the flip side, it makes regular clutches feel like you're pushing on a marshmallow. lol
Shift quality is about the same, it's not bad for stock fluid. I have Redline waiting on my parents garage, just gotta make more time to work on the car.
Alex, how's your search for another car going?

Are there any more power adders for your car, I mean anything you have done yet? I'm curious what kind of rwhp your looking at with FBO.
I stopped looking and instead decided to propose to my girlfriend of 3 years
Planing on doing that in the summer time and having a wedding early next year. That kinda put a stop to my car addiction for now. Maybe late next year or early 2015 I'll be looking for something else.Test drove a 2013 Mustang GT and fell in love with it!! What an awesome car, fairly decent interior and just raw pawahhhhhh
I may look into it when I'm making my decision. Besides, 2 incomes, no kids, no debt, I think I'll be able to pick up something real nice

I only have a few more bolt ons left;
- High flow IM
- Headers / HFC
- Tune
I don't plan on the IM / Tune for awhile if ever, HFCs are on my list for sure
I know what you mean about the Mustang, my buddy has a 2012 V6 and the interior is

Altima underwent a little surgery this afternoon, 25 min AUX install

I plan on drilling a hole into lower compartment this weekend and tidying up the cable management a bit.
I'm burning every CD I own, quite literally.

Very nice! After the Accord I've installed an iPod connector into ever car I or my wife has owned. CDs suck lol.

Well, it happened again.
This time? Not my fault.
I was obeying the speed limit (35mph) on a 2 lane road and as I was driving in the left lane, a 2009 Linchon MKS pulls out in front of me from a shopping center and hit them square in the driverside side door as he tried cutting across. This forced my car into the center median and pushed the whole car on it's side and skid about 10 - 15ft before coming back onto all 4 wheels. As you can see, side curtain airbags deployed, wheels & whole passenger side are trashed from sliding on the median. Damaged suspension / links in the front / rear from the impact. Car is totaled

The older gentleman accepted full responsibility, police arrived and we both walked away OK.
He has good insurance and I feel confident I'll get decent money back for it, I'm not quite sure what I should get next.
This couldn't have come at a worst time, time is slim and the last thing I want to do is deal with insurance companies and buying a new car.
RIP:

Also, I had a few questions on dealing with something like this.
I have USAA insurance and he has AAA.
Who would you let manage the claim and why? My insurance is offering to send an adjuster, just unsure of who would give out the higher payout.
Thanks guys,
