Turbo escort is gone, My new Protegé5

Well long story short, I blew the motor in the escort after the wastegate actuator failed and it ate 26psi...it ran for 2 weeks after that and BOOM!

I got another motor, built it @ my boys house, and his father scrapped it on me, meanwhile i just lost my job and cant afford to do it again.

So i put the car up for sale/trade
Get a guy out of jersey, traded me a 2002 Mazda Protegé5 even trade, but he had a motor to put in the escort and I had to put it in.

So he came up, i did the motor swap, and i got the car.

Yes the stripes are horrible, and I cant do shit about them, As they are painted in DEEP under the clear, so until I have $$ for a paint job thats how it stays!

So heres how i got it:

And heres how it sits now @ a car show on sunday:
Lowered 1.75" front 1.5" rear
17" 2008 Mazda 3 Snowflake rims

Plans for this one is gonna be a V6 swap (from Probe, MX6, 626, Millenia) by new years and boosting that by summer... My goal is 350whp turbo V6 Daily driven WAGON lol

Heres some pix in really bright sunlight that u can see the flake in the paint

So what do u guys think?

Don't like the paint and the stripes need to go, but otherwise the Protege5 is a decent looking hatch.

^ Yeah, I've never really been a fan of those wheels, but they look great on your Protegé 5. Always liked those cars. I wish they had done a Mazdaspeed version of it like the regular Protegé sedan. Test drove one and almost bought it before ending up with an EP3. That car handled like it was on rails and was surprisingly quick. Good luck with the V6 swap. Can't wait to see some pix of that!

BTW, where in CT you from? I grew up in Shelton, went to school in New Haven, worked in Stamford and lived in Ansonia for a few years.

The 2.3T from the Mazdaspeed3 would be WAY too much work, plus i'd hate to deal with getting the direct injection to work, that'd be the entire fuel system.

The Protegespeed swap is worthless to me as well, its the exact same block the car has now, Mazda changed nothing, just slapped a turbo on it... And the rods like to exit the block @ 10-12psi

Im from Newington/New Britain line, but im always all over the place, and isnt it crazy the amount of similarities the Protege5 has to the EP3? Even the clusters are damn near identical, except fuel-temp and tach are swapped around lol

As for the wheels, I see them ON mazda 3's and they dont look as good to me as they do on the P5!! plus with the car being lowered, It makes them look more like 18"-19" not 17s

You got a nice deal, and pink would have worked

If the stripe can go, get rid of it, other than that, you'll have some fun smoking cars with another sleeper. Congrats.
