T - The car is wonderful. And because of this thread, I am considering an 06 M5, 42K miles for $38,750. I might have to get a divorce.

That's not a bad deal. Make sure you get an exclusionary extended warranty. Look for Zurich or EasyCare.

Brother, it's a US spec car, and I live in Germany. No way can I get any warranty. That is what's holding me back.

He has had a tune, and it's unlimited (owner says 505 HP, no 155 mph limit). Does that sound right?

Yep. Sounds about right. Since you're over there, get the BMW Euro-spec SMG software; it's WAY better (launch control RPMs at 4200).

Those guys are nuts! New rear tires after that, I'm guessing.

About all M5 or just this M5?

J/K I am outta here.

Last note; I have never seen a burgundy M5 in real and wonder if this was even offered in Canada. Nice.

Yes, it was. There are several on M5Board.com in Indy Red from Canada.

As a side note - there were approx. 400 Indy Red E60 M5s shipped to the U.S. during the model's life.

Very nice car but I think I've said that a few times already. I had a chance to have a small run with a 2008 m5. I don't street race but this was a guy weaving in and out of traffic on a 55mph road. We both catch a redlight and are both in front with no traffic for a good 1/2 mile and being its a 55mph road I figure, hell I push it to 65 and see what happens.

I could tell he was going to jump on it because I could tell hear he was using the launch control feature. Long story short, I had him by about 1.5 cars at 65 and then I let off. I was thoroughly surprised how well that heavy car did from a dig and boy his engine was howling, made my engine sound like a geo.

335xi. I know up in the higher speeds the M5 woulda been much harder but 0-60 is this cars strong suit.

Generally speaking, launch isn't where the E60 M5 is strong. Torque maxes at 380 lb/ft, which isn't a lot given a 2-ton car and 500hp. However, once it's rolling, it just keeps going.

Trust me, I know, I've seen what those things can do at the strip. Pretty amazing considering the weight. And I can't understand how you keep a license if you drive on the highway as much as I do. I can't imagine keeping that thing at only 75mph on the highway, it probably feels like you're not even moving.

I've been lucky so far.

Funny story - I was driving across town on one of our freeways for a work matter and was in a hurry. I was doing north of 80, and one of my co-workers (who has a mildly modded '08 135) was following me. Before I realized it, there was a Highway Patrol Motorcycle Officer next to me, looking in my window. He just wagged his finger at me (like a Mom telling her child to stop misbehaving) and went on his way as I smiled and slowed down. I looked in my rear view mirror and my co-worker was laughing his arse off.

Yep. It's still a BMW. It's just a BMW that will set your hair on fire when you push the "M" button and mash the gas pedal.

I've taken the car on a couple of road trips and it's a really nice long-haul car...as long as you don't have the EDC set to it's firmest setting.

ETA: Beware for long trips - the car has NO spare tire.

Wait...what? This thread has a bunch of pics of my car. Plus, I'm not the one who claimed to purchase one of the first editions of a brand new model that enthusiasts have been drooling over for months, and then acted like a TEASE! He deserves all manner of abuse.
