Woke up Friday morning feeling pretty dead inside...decided to go for a drive to make me feel alive again. Since I'm self-employed, I told my boss to stick it where the sun don't shine and drove from Gilbert to the tiny town of Tortilla Flat (~30 mi. away). Perfect road + no traffic + good weather = Tim is alive, again.
I think what you did, T, is like eating comfort food for the soul. Open road in a fun car...with great scenery...just you, your car, and the road. Could not ask for more.

Sometimes you need to step back and free your mind up to realize that whatever is eating Gilbert Grape is not that bad.
Then you take a deep breath and you remember to be happy with what you have and not focus on the struggles or what you don't.
I love your post. I can relate. I think most car guys can relate.
In the past, sadly, alone would have been it...
I just learned that my drive from Ohio home in that TL-S was the nail in the coffin for
my ex...although she declined coming along and encouraged me to go. My relationship
in a nutshell...all the complaints with no action to do anything about it.
but I digress...I'm happy to be in a place now where I am with someone that would make me want
to take her with me to blow off steam, take pics of the car or just enjoy exploring together.
Kick fucking Ass, Tim.
Sorry for making this post personal but yours hit close to home.

You're exactly right...I find myself doing most things alone right now, hence my occasional bouts of feeling dead inside.
Hey Babe..
I'm going across country to meet up with some guy I met off the internet..
Buy a car from him.. probably.. go camping, blow off some steam (emphasis blow).. etc..

I mean.. I'm happy that you did it and that you called me and chatted during the drive too I remember asking, "wow.. what does B think of this" and got a response of.. "ehh she wasn't too happy but she let me do it.. " Then i said something about B being a saint..
J be like.. #worthit though... 10/10 would do it again. Good thing that TL was bulletproof with zero issues too
Sending love your way, Tim! I don't have bouts of wisdom like J does but I am glad a nice drive (beautiful by the way) did some healing. What a fine car to enjoy.
and that's why I tell people now that a cool wife isn't cool forever and don't push them...
that said, a few selfish acts were necessary to offset how much effort I was putting in
in comparison to my mate.
I know my demons and I'm working on them...I heard some of the same complaints as things
fell apart from my 5 year ex-fiancee and my 10 year ex-wife...I don't want another failed
relationship so I'm sure to do my part when it comes to never letting my hobbies get in the way
of quality time with the kids or her...I never really check out or openly comment on other
chicks being hot either. Who knows, maybe I'm impersonating a guy maturing, maybe I'm
different as a Dad, maybe I'm taking my licks and learning lessons.
Tim, we're here for you...on the forums or if you want to vent offline, holler at your boy...always
good to hear different opinions.

Hell, in my current circumstances, I'd give it up for Taco Bell.
No way
Unless you a blax chix living in Edmonton trying to scam a tall albino giraffe dummy
Ain't nobody be wanting to give it up for TacoBello of formerly from Acurazine
Oh man that was my absolute favorite drive to take when I lived in AZ, T. The twists and turns down into the canyon were just so fun and the views are second to none. I used to do the same thing to clear my head and re-energize, but when I did it I wasn't my own boss, so I had to fake sickness, but I supposed everyone needs a mental clarity day here and there. Now if you really want to clear the mind, go for a hike up to Flat Iron in Lost Dutchman State Park. That was my favorite hike ever besides Hieroglyphics Trail in Gold Canyon.

What is this "hike" thing you speak of? I've heard that involves a lot of walking.
