Yeah, but wasn't it out in Japan and Europe a while before it made its way here?

Is the TSX noticeably smaller inside?
I'd say no. Sure, the TL is wider, but specs are within a inch of each other. I was surprised when I compared this both at the same occasion.

I was set on getting the TSX and even put a down payment on it until I sat in the rear seat behind the driver seat. The car is just WAY too uncomfy for the rear passanger if the people in the front seat are 5 9 and above. The tsx has more room in the trunk i believe and it is nice to have folding seats, but I don't golf and I don't ski so I rarely had any use for it. The TSX is definitely a great car, it just feels like it missed some essentials. No one touch passanger window, no one touch sunroof, and non power passanger seat pretty much swayed me towards the TL along with the extra room for the rear and the extra power.

Only thing I will miss is the fact that I will be getting an auto (1st car I've owned to be auto) and the 6spd Navi's are nearly impossible to get. According to my salesmen they stopped production for those about 2 months ago and hasn't picked up since..that is why they are so hard to get =(.

They can't get transmissions for the 6spd. 6 month waiting list.

I just traded a TSX/6MT/Navi that I bought last April for a TL/5AT/Navi. During that year of ownership, I found the TSX to be an excellent car. It was fun to drive, surprisingly quick, and completely reliable.

The TL, by comparison, is even better. I feel the additional power, features, and refinement are well worth the extra cost.

Anyway, here's a breakdown of some of the differences between these two cars from my POV:

Power: The TL has it all over the TSX, especially in low-end torque. That doesn't mean the TSX is a slouch. It just means you have to wind it up a bit more to get it going. Both cars offer smooth delivery of power all the way to redline.

Handling: This is a tough one. While the TL offers a smoother, quieter ride, I think the TSX actually handles better. Think of a scale that measures soft & comfortable vs. firm and sporty. The TL would be slightly off-center towards the former while the TSX would be slightly off-center towards the latter. Plus the lighter TSX feels more responsive to steering input.

Exterior Styling: From the front, both cars are remarkably similar to each other. But from the back and sides, I prefer the sharper lines of the TL. It is both more classy and more menacing at the same time.

Interior Styling: Both are excellent. I had Parchment/Wood in the TSX vs. Quartz/Aluminum in the TL. Since I like both combos very much, I'll call this one a tie.

Driver Controls: Nods to the TL here. Auto up/down on both front windows. Sunroof controls where they belong (plus auto open/vent/close). Two-driver memory. Keyless entry settings. Tilting mirrors. Etc. About the only thing that might be better in the TSX is the guage cluster.

Comfort: Again, the TL wins. Better seats. More room. Softer leather. Smoother ride. Dual-zone and dual-mode climate controls. Etc.

Stereo: Both are pretty good for factory. The TSX system is actually louder and more powerful once the speakers are broken in. However, the TL system is much smoother, more accurate, and way better at rendering detail. Plus the TL has XM and DVD-A. Enough said.

Navigation: The TL seems to have some incremental software updates over what I had in the TSX. Other than that, the two systems look and perform exactly the same. (i.e. It's well worth the $2,000 premium in either car.)

That's about all that comes to mind right now. My advice would be to check out both cars in person, especially side by side if possible. Also, test drive each car at least twice, back to back if possible. Then buy the car that best suits your needs. I don't think you will go wrong either way.

News flash: More high school students die on the roads each year as a direct result of speeding than as a consequence of a random shooting by a ratio of about 300:1 I'd estimate.

So shove your twisted morals and your death-speed technology up your fuc*ing ass, okay? Better yet, go do 115 MPH on the Bruckner and shed no tears as you plow into a school bus. But hey- at least you didn't get a ticket, right?
Haven't followed up with this thread it a while. Bolt, I'm entitled to my opinion as you are to yours. I'm not a high-school student. I've been a dumb-ass at that time, but I would not be going those speeds now. In fact, I might run into a bus someday, or a bus might run into me, I can't predict those things. But I can guarantee that it won't happen when I'm going a 115 mph.

If you feel that my purchase of a radar detector is equivalent to you making fun of the events of Columbine, and encouraging a 17 year old to do the same, that is your prerogative. I disagree. I think your original comment was in bad taste.

To make it clear, I'm not insulting you or your morals or want to make sure that you are "ashamed". That means nothing to me. I wanted to state my opinion clearly, that I did not think that statement was appropriate.

Oh well, I guess its all in good fun right...
