Trying to help my dad out... scuffed Accord bumper.

My dad picked up a pristine 2009 Accord Sedan a few months ago and some jack off already side swiped him in a parking lot. Luckily the damage is all on the rear bumper. I think the best option is just to get a new bumper because the gashes are pretty deep and rough. If we tried to fix it we would have to get involved with bondo and I have no experience in that department. I've been trying to find an OEM vendor online that sells pre painted bumpers, to no avail. If anyone is feeling gratuitous, I'd deeply appreciate if anyone has any hookups or knows of an online vendor for what I'm looking for. The part number is 04715-TA0-A90ZZ, color is WDP.

Thanks!

unfortunately OEM bumpers do not come pre painted. i know TL bumpers cost around $260-300. add another $250-300 for prep and paint. if you are looking for a repair and respray that'll still cost around $400-600 (depending on location and the shop).

resident vendors here: acktl05 (works his orders through curry acura-they can get honda parts) or tim who works with peoria acura (in arizona)-he can also get honda parts as well.

sucks about the hit and run...i know the feeling. if you guys plan to keep the car a while, get a new bumper (paint work is all in the prep-don't cheapen out on this part). if you plan to get rid of it...repair might be the better way to go.

in the end, get some estimates from body shops and then decide.

In all honesty, it would be better to get the factory bumper refinished. They won't use bondo but the material the bumpers are made of to "fill" in or straighten it out. Then they will prep the rest of the bumper and REPAINT the whole bumper and get the match 100% to your dad's car. It's going to be 300-600 depending on what shop you go to.

Buying a replacement bumper even that's OEM poses some issues. A person with a keen eye will notice the missing VIN Sticker and the Honda markings plus factory crayon marks and will think the car was rear ended. Plus you are going to have to get it painted (or if it's pre-painted there might be paint matching issues & quality issues with the paint).
