Trying to help a friend....

Need yours to get this done. My buddy has a 2004 a6 and the headlight needs to be replaced. After looking at his car it looks as if the bumber needs to be pulled off as well in order to get the headlight housing out. Now this is definately not my forte but trying lol. Does anyone have any experience with this or point me in the right direction for information.

Thank you guys for any input!

You can find the DIY (Do it yourself) in the 3G TL Garage sticky.

It is pretty easy with the right tools, and being careful the first time. I too was kind of worried to do it myself, but once you man up to it and just say its just a car/thing then you can do anything with your car.

Not necessarily, people in the "car talk" section of our forum are knowledgeable in different brands

Go to Audizine.com, I think this is the best site for Audi's. It's kind of set up like Acurazine. Check it out.

Good idea: Posting this question in car talk.
Bad idea: Creating an account on an Audi forum to ask one question.

Anyway, OP, a lot of cars require the front bumper to be removed in order to replace a headlight.

Yea, because this would cost tons of money and would take way too long to do .

I assume they are not HID's, if they are the bulb is going to be a bit more money and it may not be the bulb. Additionally, if they are HID's I would replace both bulbs at the same time otherwise the color of the bulbs won't match. If they are HID's, I know it's more work, but swap the bulbs from one side to the other to isolate if it is a bulb or ballast. Be sure to check the fuses too, some of those cars have independent fuses for Left and Right headlamps. The other thing you may attempt, this works on some VW's that have similar procedures to replace headlamp bulbs, find a mechanically savvy friend with small hands and see if he/she can snake them in there. I have large hands but one of my techs had really small hands he was a life saver.

If all else fails removing the bumpers on those cars is time consuming but very simple, it makes the headlamp changing process a piece of cake. But before I would do that I would exhaust all other options and I would double check the fuse, nothing will make you feel dumber then taking the bumper off, replacing the bulb only to find out a 10 second fuse replacement was the answer.

Creating an account and SEARCHING is even better.
