Transmission Issues

I'm new to the acura scene this is my first acura. I am a previous Audi and Volvo owner, I do computer service for a living at the moment. Anyway I just purchased a 3.2 tl 03 from a honda dealership about 4 months or so ago. when the car is shifting from 3rd to 4th it holds in 3rd for an exstended amount of time as if it was being held back from the ability to shift at a certian rpm. the car will allow me to excelerate to about 5 or 6k rpms before it will shift sometimes. I dont know whats going on...is that normal for these trannys?

Is this forum group based out of a certain area? I am also a part of Nceuro.org which is very similar to this, along with audizine.com. My handle is Kraller on those two...I was looking for some exhaust, brakes, and rims for my car. exhaust not loud and flashy, just deep and concervative. wheels black 5 spoke with chrome lip 18 or 19 inch. brakes cross drilled , slotted rotors , low dust street pads. and how i can debadge my trunk. also if the rear tailights can be tinted? If so is that the inside or outside that it needs to be applied to?

Sounds like your tranny is about to bite the dust. Read up in either the CL or TL section about the tranny recalls, lawsuits and Honda warranty for 109k miles. Unfortunately the auto tranny in the CL/TL is the one thing that Honda has really let the ball drop on their cars. I now own a 6 speed Accord because I couldn't take the crazy shifting in my CL-S. Good luck. Also try posting in the TL section, they might be able to help you more.

I went through 2 auto-trannys on my 2001 CL-S....then I got rid of it...had enough.

It appears you are having the common AT failure of the Honda 5 speed Auto.
As long as you are under +/- 100k mi. Acura will replace your transmission under warranty.

Go to a good Acura dealer.

My car is not under warranty anymore, will this be covered under a recal or something I am not going to have to pay for? Is the some type of documentation I am going to need to show for this?

If you have more questions, visit the 2nd Generation TL forums. https://acurazine.com/forums/

Or you can even visit the CL forums. Tons and tons and tons of information regarding faulty transmissions.

Also, don't even bother having the "FOR SALE" notice in your sig.

1. You don't have your location in your info.
2. You're advertising the fact that your car is on sale on a website where 95% of the people interested in your car are aware of the tranny problems.
3. You just screwed yourself anyway with this thread.

I'd see about getting the tranny fixed under warranty, and then selling the car. If you like Acura's, get the new TL. It's a good car and hasn't had any terrible issues. Good luck.

In all seriousness...are you not reading the thread responses?
It's pretty simple.
