The trancemission/Shoofin Elise thread
Yeah its the Larini Sport SE. I tried using euro grills with the stock license plate mount....it wouldve been too much drilling and riveting. So I went with the eliminator kit. It works well with the Sector 111 diffuser I installed. I need to paint it black though.
I can tell you, here in Dallas during these 100 degree days I dont even drive it. The A/C cant really keep up at all. You have to be moving through the air pretty fast for it to do anything.
Did you hear your fans running when it began to overheat?
As for the overheating, I wasn't paying attention to hear the fans on when it happened, I was in on the George Washington Bridge when it overheated and I freaked, my instincts made me blast the heat, but all I was hearing was the blower fan from the heat and all the other cars around me idling. Though I have gotten out of my car many times and hear the fans blowing. The previous owner replaced the OEM radiator with an aluminum one, saying something about the OEM tends to crack, so he replaced it before it happened as a preventive measure. I also asked him if he's ever experienced any overheating, he said he doesn't recall it ever going over 220, but at the same time he said he never sat in traffic that long in the car to ever see that happen.

I was contemplating changing my diffuser with something more agressive like E., but I think it would get destroyed on NY roads, so I'm sticking with OEM - for now.

Sector 111 told me that one of the best aerodynamic mods you can do to the car is taking the exhaust out of the air stream.
I already sent the Euro grills back..

No drone really. When you're at WOT its borderline sexual.
The Euro grills will work if you use the stock diffuser. The Sector 111 diffuser was really meant to work with the eliminator. Myself and a guy at 111 talked about making it work. But once I got the exhaust on we looked at it and I thought it would be a shame to cover it up.

As for the noise, wherever I'm driving, it's hard to get anywhere close to WOT...If pushing at all, I'm shifting at 4500-5000 RPM. I might have bounced 8 grand a handful of times, but that's about it.
Now I gotta find an OEM diffuser in Black. Sector111 has one in their "used parts" listings for $180. They also have a 3 Element Reverie Style diffuser that's used for $200, but me thinks to keep OEM to KISS...

That is what I am aiming to get as a play toy...I just need a good DD for now.
I've contemplated keeping my tsx until the wheels fall off and just pulling the trigger on an elise.
If you hang around lotustalk and scour autotrader, you can find a nice 04 elise with less than 20k on the odometer for around 26k. My wife is all for it as long as I don't kill myself.
Nationwide quoted me 105$ a month for 100/200/100 insurance, I'm 25, married, and a homeowner so that all factors in. That link is the best looking elise I've ever put my eyes on, just stunning.
Btw, nice buy!

I have my '66 Mustang with them, as well as my friend's '67 Mustang on my policy, I pay under $500 per year for both cars. I added the Lotus onto my policy saying i'll be driving it 3500 miles per year, and I'm paying $640 per year with $0 deductible across the board for the Lotus.
Give them a shot..

go to flickr dot com
in the search bar in the upper right, search for "autopics99"
it will say there are 0 results, but if you look you have the photos tab selected, instead select people.
Then you will find him, enjoy.
he is also on lotustalk, which is where he posted the gallery. gorgeous titanium elise with the perfect mods. I literally have an excel sheet with all his mods so that one day, i can severely jack his style.
