Trailblazer SS

Trailblazer SS

What are your thoughts, this car is now in the mix for my next car. LS2 They said they did a lot of good work to the suspension and I know hotchkis also has some upgrades in the works. for 32K, looks like a stout truck, that can also tow 7K!

Probly gets 25 Hwy MPG.

I see nothing wrong with this truck.

I also don't see them offering a motor like this in their platform for 32K

Not bad for the price. An SUV that runs low 14s. How much more are the Jeeps? The HEMI I think is in the high $30's. Does the 5.7 run that fast?

The SRT-8's are only $40k+? Or are you saying the trailblazer is on the low-end of your price range?

I thought the GC SRT-8's were close to $60k...

Seems good but depreciates more than a CL when you take it off the lot..

there are other cars that really depreciates faster than the CL:

Anyways, Thank God I leased my CL-S; I have a locked-in residual. If the car is worth less when I return it, i don't need to give a dime.

I have to disagree, I don't think the EPA will be close to that, 20-21 at best.

As for the GC SRT, my problem with it (based on the real early info I read) is it can't pull a wet string outta a cat's butt... I need more towing capacity. The SS is interesting but the reliability issue scares me, the TB is one of the lowest satisfaction and reliabilty SUVs CU has reported on. But in this case at least the engine/tranny is solid. Although they don't have the verve of the SS I would buy a 4Runner, Sequoia or Pathfinder. However, if the reliability was/gets better and the transaction cost is resonable for a Chevy, I would definately consider it.

SS 2WD 15/19
SS 4WD 14/17

Correct you are. I was hoping the 29 MPG numbers for the vette would somewhat carry over.

Looks good, but when will GM learn to do something different with the placement of their OnStar and XM antennae?!?!?!

it'll be interesting to see what reality is, I haven't had faith in EPA's #'s for a long time, some are higher, some are lower

My fathers 4WD Envoy (SWB) with 4.10 gears gets roughly 17-18 Avg MPG. With most of the driving being highway. I doubt the 4WD SS will be a whole lot different.

If different from the EPA SUVs have a tedency to be lower since the EPA highway is done at 55 and the large frontal area tends to make higher speeds worse and worse on fuel economy. My guess EPA highway is the best you can bet on.

I think it's a sweet ride. It was also fine-tuned by John Heinricy on the Nurburgring. You know it's bad-ass when an SUV is tuned on the 'Ring.

The reviews I have read indicate the suspension is softer and the steering more vague than one would think, I don't think you can go in expecting X5/Cayenne steering and suspension poise. It seems to be like the rest of the SS series now, somewhere between pedestrian and enthusiast, which in the end might be a good thing as it puts it in the middle where there is not much product now.

Earlier in the thread I think the MSRP was mis-quoted, the bottom level is 33,600 and it can be looked at more like a $5,195 package available on any of the non-EXT Trailblazers. In this light I think the engine, tranny (even though it apparently isn't great BUT it is strong), brakes and 20's make this a resonable price.

Well, GM doesn't believe in stiff suspension or oversteer. I'm not surprised, and I certainly wasn't expecting the TB SS to fare against the likes of the X5 4.8is, Cayenne Turbo, etc. Those are world class vehicles at like twice the money for a TB SS. GM is shooting for that more affordable sporty SUV segment, and I think as "a poor man's Cayenne", it's very nicely done. I have yet to drive one, so I can't make any statements on that. But based on the stats I've seen, it seems to be a promising sport SUV with the balls to back it up.
