Traded in the TL for...
Hey all, I am sad to say that I traded in my 06 NHBP. It was the best car I have ever owned. She had 114K miles on her and was still running incredibly well. You can't beat the reliability and bang for the buck. I just needed a change. I gave the 4G a shot but I can't get over the beak and lack of power. So I was shopping around and fell in love with this 08 550i after driving it. Picked the car today. I never thought that I would own a BMW but I figured I would give it a shot. It is a CPO car with 34K miles and warrantied and serviced out to 100k miles. The warranty is peace of mind, I just hope I don't sit in the shop with issues you hear about with owning a BMW. I never had to with the TL. But thats why I went with the 550i. The 535's have had major problems with the turbo motor.
First impressions: It's bank vault tight, unbelievable ride quality, seats are amazing, lightning quick tranny, open it up and she runs HARD and the V8 makes some nice music. On the flip side, its going to take forever to learn and get used to the I Drive. Makes your head spin. The storage is very limited and the cupholders are on the passenger side (Stupid).
But nobody makes a perfect car and you have to compromise and lean towards what you value more. This time around it was for performance and luxury. i'll just have to reach for my cup of coffee and fumble with I drive.
Anyway, wish me luck and I will still troll around here and be looking out for the 5G TL. Hopefully it looks like the 3G with lots of power and at least a 6 or 7 speed auto by then.

BTW, I kept the 19" Enkei GTC01's if anyone is interested. Here is what they look like:

Tires are shot and the rims have some rashes. I plan to take the tires off for shipping purposes to keep the cost down. I'll have to take pictures to show the condition.

Thats definitely an upgrade, in fact if i had the money to throw i would buy myself an M5 and if not, then the 550I would be more then enough. To me one of the best looking BMW's you can buy. And there is nothing negative about it...
The M5 would have definitly been another notch up. But the M5 is very thirsty and the gas bill would have killed me. I drive on average 30K miles plus a year.
Nice pickup. I've driven both the 550i at length and have found it to be the best sports sedan I've EVER driven....auto tranny notwithstanding. And IF you experience any prolonged shop time then, just make them give you a 335iS loaner in the meantime.

The tranny is what is really impressive. The tach snaps back at the blink of an eye and the shifts are lightning quick. The TL, well

I still have to set the car up to my liking. I only drove it 10 miles this weekend
. Hard to go for a joy ride with 3 kids under 6.

Congrats!
