Traded car in, dealer says check in two weeks ?

So .. after 10 years in my beloved TSX, I finally traded him in (sad day). Anyway, so I leased a new car so I asked the dealer to just cut me a check. So Upon finalizing the deal, the business/finance manager told me that the check will be sent to me in two weeks, and said something about having to wait for the lease paper work to go through the Lexus financial company first.

Is this normal, or are they playing some sort of games with me?

I haven't given them the title yet (as I didn't have it with me at the time), so I guess I can use it as leverage?

Should I demand the check when I give them the title, or is this 2 weeks normal practice?

How long have you waited so far. Have you spoken to them. It took me over a month one time to get a check from a dealer.

Have the paperwork regarding the trade in? If so you should be fine, assuming its not some small time dealership.

I have had to wait for checks before as well. Typically took less than two weeks.

You've already gotten solid advice, so I'm going to ask the obvious, "what did you trade for"?

It's been less than 24 hrs So I guess it is safe to give them my title then They did give me a form saying that they will 'pay off' the trade in, paid to the customer (myself).

Wasn't exactly a trade, it's lease. I went home with a GS350 F Sport

but I miss my TSX a lot, it was my first new car, first car I paid for out of college 10 yrs ago. Truly a great car

Nothing to worry about. Especially if you have the paperwork.

Congrats on the GS! Wonderful car. Post pics if you get the chance.

Nice!

I haven't taken any pics yet, but it looks pretty much the same.

I got the Ultra White which is supposedly whiter than Starfire Pearl, and I got the cabernet interior (I always loved white on red)

Hopefully I get my check soon and my TSX will find a good home

Congrats on the new F Sport! Can't wait to see some photos of that color combo. I too love white with red interiors.

The TSX always looked more masculine than feminine to me ... even though a lot of soccer moms drive it
