Trade my 2004 TL for a 2004 S4?

Should I do it? I will be losing some money. In return, I get AWD, more power (4.2L V8 with 340 HP), and an extended warranty.

any advise? thanks in advance...

I like the Audi S4, but damn they are unreliable.

I thought it's the previous generation S4s that were unreliable, the ones with the turbos. Haven't heard too many bad things about the new ones.

You beat me too it. The previous S4 with the 2.7 twin turbo engine was really bad because the K03 turbos would die right when the warranty ended. The new S4's are N/A though and are much more reliable, but in some people's opinion, less fun to drive than the previous S4

All that said, I would do it, but if performance is your only concern and AWD isn't a neccessity, you would be happier with a M3.

My coworker has an '04 S4, and the day it came home from the lot it developed a power steering fluid leak that no one has been able to fix.

VW can't make a reliable car to save their lives. Stay away.

Yes lets base the whole VW brand off one car your "coworker" had.

If thats the case, then everyone stay away from HONDA products cuz i know people who have had 5 trannys replaced.

I'd do it......but then again you need a bigger engine with the way gas prices are these days?

On thing... it's a gas guzzler... My friend just bought one a month ago... It's costing an arm and a leg in gas...

Great car though!

More than likely, anyone looking at the S4 doesn't have to worry about gas.

Hot car.

Does it have navigation?

Not to start something but it doesn't mean because you have money that you have to burn it in gas... I can afford an FX45 but I have a problem with the drinking habits of the car so I choose not to buy it.

Actually, my boss makes millions and was driving an X5 4.4... He got rid of it because of the gas consumption... He went back to a car.

The implication is not that you have the money to "burn" in gas, but $4/gallon should not break someone buying a car that costs more than $50k.

the S4 is my dream car! it's practical cause it's AWD for the snow, faster than a lot of sports cars, and it has 4 drs so you wouldn't have to worry about trading in the car when you have to take others with you or for more space.

YES. I most likely will be making the move from my '03 TL-S to an '06 B7 S4 in about 8 months. It's a fun-to-drive and hot car, and it's especially practical in every sense of the word.

ok...i test drove the 2005 S4 (B6) manual. i was not too impressed. the steering was very light. the shifter gates were too spaced out. the clutch felt on the light side. the car felt good over all. WOT was nice. the recaro seats were great.

as a whole, i was not too impressed. was i expecting a lot from the S4? i actually like the steering response, the shifter, and the WOT from the 2004 TL i currently own. granted i have all the mods in it (sig below). maybe i was just expecting more.

all feedbacks are welcome...

the 6spd TL is very nice. not many flaws aside from RWD...and thats not so much a flaw as it is a preference. If i was still lived back east, or somewhere where it snowed I would stick with FWD/AWD.

That said, the S4 is a BEAST. I didnt like it at first, when I first drove the B6...enjoyed it, but something lacked....then I stewed on on it for a few days and it kept haunting the back of my mind...and slowly i fell in love with the car. Perhaps that is what will happen with you, a seed has been planted.
