but when you bought the other cars you were able to sell anytime you wanted. If you lease you are STUCK in the same car for your term lease. Unless you pay a shitload to get out of it.

Leasing is generally not as financially adept as buying but people have different needs. Seems like leasing is for people who don't need to budget, or people who can't afford to buy it outright.

That line is " What is going to change from now in a day or two? " Then, you break the customer down by rationalizing their own logic against them, then they realize there is no difference between now and couple days from now.
So, this thread was started friday. If you truly thought this was a great idea and you really wanted to do it, you would have made the deal on saturday.
Obviously, you some ill logic that has you now asking strangers what they would do. in hopes to justify your possible poor choice.
the question you are asking is "do i make a financially irresponsible decision, or not?"

in all honesty, i dont really care, i dont know that guy, dont think i really want to, his choice bears no impact on my life. But it is a dumb decision and in odd round about ways i can in fact care about things like that even with people i dont know.

I agree with you.. ask him how much shit i gave him all weekend about it. I think he should keep the 330. But honestly, i think he already made up on his mind on the CLK. I knw he wants to and cant stop thinking about it... so im sure he will pick it up. But he wont admit it yet.

Fuck, I want an STi, I could make about 4 really bad choices that would get me into owning one, I can afford it, but it would be unwise to do it at this moment, I've been drooling over the car since i drove over a week ago.

Don't lease if he doesn't HAVE TO do it. Why trade in a purchased car for a leased car? The worse part is that this CLK55 AMG is the last generation. I suggest don't do it.

Businesses lease cars to pay for what they use for the tax implications and savings, people do lease cars, but it is generally not in your best interest to do so unless the resale value of the car is superb, ie toyota, some hondas...
675 a month is what? at $20 per thousand it is around a $34k car, the problem with your logic of putting away 2400 a year is that you would own the car if you were paying the extra 200 a month, which means at the end of the term (assuming the car doesn't fall off the face of the earth) it should (in 4-5 years) still be worth at least 10-12 grand, which would then be your next down payment as a trade in.
in the case you buy a car that holds its value somewhat well you will easily beat the amount of money you could have saved with the amount the car is worth.... (ie your 34K car would hopefully be worth more like 15 or so)
of course the moral of the story is that all cars are very good at taking your money and being worth less in a short period of time, however sarlacc is right, if you know you are going to blow the money anyway lease new, or buy new or used... but don't lease used... just setting yourself up to have nothing/be upside down if you purchase at the end
buying used will help you alleviate most of the raping if you get somewhat of a good deal, but then the car is older, always tradeoffs...
take it from someone who learned the hard way about leasing, i now own my cl
my only saving grace in my lease was that my car's value at the end of the lease was more than the buyout, so i bought it out to sell it and cover the cost, and make a little bit of $, but gave it to my sister instead (2001 accord coupe)
