Toyota MR2

Got to thinking how awesome this car was in the mid 90s...

Any members on this board have one? The targa design is one of my favorites and i wish more manufacturers would revisit this setup for a coupe.

These look so damn sexy when its tastefully modded.

Any photos you guys have would be appreciated.

(Sorry, this thread is currently a bit worthless)

I liked the 90's model. And I agree, when modded tastefully, is an awesome looking little sporty car.

I've got a 92 Turbo with the T tops (they didn't do Targa on the MR2, only the Supra) and I love it. This is a car that has literally captured my heart and I hope to keep it for many many years. I've got to replace the turbo after 154,000 miles (original turbo, its had an easy life) and am debating between going for a little upgrade or keeping it stock as I do autocross it. If you come across one and have the means, I highly recommend it, 93+ if you can find it as it has some upgrades that are worth it.

If i'm not mistaken, the T-Top is a 2 panel design, leaving the frame/shell of the body in between the two panels, forming a "T" in between. The Targa roof is a single panel that gets taken off, with no framing above the driver and passenger.

I've always thought they were really cool looking little cars, too. Kind of like a JDM Ferrari 308 or something. I'm sure just like Supra's finding an unabused stock example will be nearly impossible.

They're a blast to drive. It feels like a go kart.... ultra low to the ground, very responsive and with mods they haul ass. My brother has a stock 91 Turbo, but like Infamous said, there's always something wrong with it so he's not driving it. They're also a pain in the ass to work on. Expect around or even more than $10,000 for a good condition low mileage Turbo.

And t-tops aren't the same as a targa, see Shoofin's post, spot on. I prefer t-tops over a targa. Some older targa cars feel like a wet noodle with the targa off as far as rigidity is concerned.
