And yet higly practical, road going, and off road capable compared to the H3...which only ever scored marks in its off road charm.

A lot of people just arent going to like this SUV...I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

agree heh. Test drove the B9 Tribeca. It may look powerful on paper but it's rather breathless in real life. They need to retune the drive-by-wire system cause it has the longest lag of any drive-by-wire system I've driven. I think the weight negates its power (don't know the exact weight).

The FJ Cruiser...hmm.. I saw it in the showroom on Friday. It looks nice, chunky, and something a 4Runner owner would buy but not the 4Runner Limited owner but the 4Runner SR5 V6 owner. The type that loves the SUV style and not the crossover ones and actually use it to haul bikes and gears to camps and such.

The handles (both exterior and interior) are chunky like the Hummer but the feel smooth, unlike the Hummer which feels like Little Tikes. Also, The suicide door is cool but god damn it why does the driver and/or front passenger have to remove the seatbelt in order for the rear passengers to get out. You'd figured they learn from the Element. Also, for all those complaining about Japanese-side rear swinging doors, this one is actually hinged on the left so you open up to the curb.

From the inside, it looks like you're sitting in a tank. The dashboard is soooo high up and the windshield is soo narrow. The seats are grippy though. I'd say it's more of a weekend toy like a sports car than a utilitarian 4Runner.

Mark-up is a friggin JOKE on these. MSRP high price is 23K.

Stealerships are wanting at least 25K, some even hit over 32K asking. lol

Supply & Demand I guess. At the high a$$ fuel prices they (toyota dealerships) should be honored if we buy them. But there is always a DUMB A$$ born every minute that would pay over MSRP. Idiots I guess.

Sweet. I see them everywhere now. Specially on the Westside. I still want one...but keeping the pathfinder...saving money...and getting a 2nd sports car in the future sounds nice too.

You wont find a 2wd base model with steel black wheels and no upgrades any where. Yes they top out around 33k with all options.

With just the conv pack and upgrade pack you are close to $30k. Most want the roof rack and the TRD exhaust is nice. On a truck without the Upgrade pack you get the ugly black wheels. Most dealers add wheels at a high price. Seems now the upgrade packages are scarce.

I have driven two, one at the per-launch and one about 2 weeks ago. First it is smaller than it looks in pictures, second it drives almost exactly like a V6 4Runner on the road. This months Dirt Truck compares it offroad and on to the LC120 and it beat the LC 7 categories to 2 with the 2 being towing and road comfort. Although I am not in the market for another SUV for about 4 years I like it and my wife loves it. It wouldn't be my choice for a first car but our SUV is a fourth vehicle so unless something she likes better comes along I will own one, she even said she would rather have it than a loaded GX, which had been what I planned to buy, so I guess I will save 25K!

Just wanted to bump this to see if anyone else has experiences with the FJ. We're looking to pick up one at the end of this year for the new business, so just looking for some feedbacl. We're looking to get something that can haul some stuff (which this has plenty of room for what we need) and also for something that is an eye-catcher so when people see it, they automatically associate it with our store. Right now it's between this and a Scion Xb...

I've always wanted a TOYOTA truck with no double-ring badge, but TOYOTA lettering.

Not seeing a lot of them around here. Maybe 1 per day or so. But even so, they still stick out...

And that's exactly why we're looking at one (plus we need some room to haul stuff... plus light towing ability). Figuring either a yellow or blue one would be perfect. Some subtle vinyle, and bam, a business vehicle that gets attention...

Obviously we'll test drive one before we buy it... but you know how test drives usually go.

Looking for MPG, general comfort/ride, and if you have it for a while (I'm not sure if you're buying one or just using one for a few days) any problems you may run into. Also curious how you find the storage space and ease of access to it. Again, I know we can evaluate these on a test drive, but like to know what people who are spending more time in them think. And even though it's built on the 4-runner, I'm usually leary of 1st year models, however, we'd be making the purchase by Feb 2007, so we'd be getting at 2007 model no matter what.

As mentioned, it will be strictly a business vehicle, so we'll probably be going for the base model as we won't need a lot of luxury items, but I've been doing research on their forums on all models, but reading about an FJ on an FJ forum isn't always the best way to do it, which is why I saw this topic and figured I could get some opinions from Honda/Acura fans

I guess this really isn't fair since I don't commute, so I don't drive much. My wife who commutes daily says she sees about 2-3 per day average...

not buying it...yet.

my wife is bringing one home for a few weeks (she works for corporate toyota) to drive around. i've already posted a review once - https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...hlight=cruiser.

i'll have it for a bit longer than last, but not anywhere close to a "long-term" drive.

good thing you and stang don't work for toyota. considering the FJ is selling very well, and still commanding a nice premium over MSRP, i'd say there are plenty of people who would buy it.

The good thing is that the prices are dropping a little. They used to be getting $1k or so over MSRP. Now they're only asking about $300 over MSRP. Figure by year end when it's winter time and the hype dies down they'll be cheaper (plus, we want the 2wd model). Regardless, I never really listen to anything M Type X says anyway... it's mostly gibberish But, it just goes to show that even those who don't like it notice them... which is exactly what we're looking for (to be noticed)...
