Toyo Proxes 4's vs. T1-S

I was initially going to get the Proxes 4's but after doing some reading i am hearing that these tires arent good for the 1/4 strip. But with the t1-s they wont last as long and they are louder tires so i am having a hard time deciding what to get.

Has anybody ran the proxes 4's at the track or just very hard in the city for a long time?

A/S tires will always SUCK at the track. You can't get away.

You want speed you must make some sacrifices

see my sig.....tires are good and cheap.

If you have a dedicated set of winter rims/tires, go for the performance rubber. Seems to defeat the purpose of having winter rubber, if you're riding on A/S rubber... Especially in a FWD car.

darrinb,
I've had the Proxes 4's on since 15 March and they have been performing very well on the daily road warrior commute. Traction Rating (AA) and temperature rating (A) are the same as the T1-s' but I don't know how that would factor in with the differant tread pattern for the 1/4 mile/Track uses. The only other similar input I know of is in the review article posted by Shawn S.
Sorry

Well the Pilot Sport A/S's I have also have a AA & A rating as the T1's but they SUCK at the track. The T1's are way better for track duty. I had 2 sets & were happy.

The 4's suck.

They are cheap and the tread looks shitty compared to the T1-S.

I just got a new set of T1-S put on and I asked the guy at the tire shop. he said 'nah, you don't wanna go with the 4's, they aren't nearly as good'.

This is my second set of T1-S's.
I trust these guys.

we'll i dunno. The old toyo FZ4s were HORRID. That was the old toyo A/S tire. The tread on the new 4 looks better for whatever that's worth. But yea for the track.....t1s

How can you say that? I think you’re confusing the Proxes 4 with the older FZ4.
The Proxes 4 has only been out for a couple of MONTHS so there aren’t really any long term reviews to read.

And the tire dealer just sold you a tire that is MORE EXPENSIVE and will give you LESS MILEAGE.
This will give him higher profits and you will be back for replacements sooner.
What do you THINK he’s gonna say ???

I think the 4 has a dam nice looking tread pattern.

4s rock dude. They aren't T1-S, but they are good enough.

They weren't more expensive at all. I've got the hookup on tires. I could've had either tire for roughly the same price.

He didn't have to sell me.
