Tommy's test drive car review Audi A4/Buick Regal choice.

I had the pleasure of test driving both an Audi A4 and Buick Regal for a day. This is my first review and I ask in advance to go easy on me. I want to redeem myself with a shot at a great review due to the bad quality of my previous posts. I ask that Acurazine give me a chance.

Audi A4(FWD Premium)
Price after taxes/fees: 43,000

Buick Regal(FWD)
Price after taxes/fees: 33,500

Exterior:
The Buick Regal has definitely changed my opinion in regards to how 'boring' of a brand Buick is. The car looks refined, sporty, and have the right blend of elegance needed to create something eye pleasing. I feel like the curves of the Regal were put in all the right places and it looks simply amazing in Red.
The Audi A4 is a decent looking luxury sedan but it is beginning to look out dated. Of course the new A4 is coming out Fall of 2015 so Audi themselves realize this. I personally prefer the A4 in all Black, but it still looks passable in White.
Winner: Buick Regal

Interior:
The Regal actually surprised me with their interior design as compared to Audi's. The interior is nowhere near as luxurious as a Lexus(different segment) but who's is? That being said, the Regal's interior definitely hold it's own against the A4'S in it's styling. I especially like how they blend in the right combination of 'oak and leather'.(Not real oak of course, but it gives the appearance of real wood) Cup holders are average but serves it's purpose well. Ample space in the backseat and a roomy trunk definitely got me smiling.
The Audi's interior is a bit lackluster with it's almost mundane like leather design and outlines. I personally rate the Acura Tl's interior higher. In fact the leather in the Audi's might not be as good as the 3G TL's. The steering wheel is wonderfully build in though and the dash board give off both the impression of luxury and sporty refinement. It's lack of room in the backseat and it's small trunk are a concern though.

Winner: Buick Regal

Performance/Driving

Both are front wheel drive, so it's obviously not RWD performance level but both cars do it's job well. The Regal is surprisingly fun to drive, it's obviously not a driver's car like the Lexus IS 350(different class to be fair to the Regal)but it certainty feel a lot more fun than the other sedans within it's class. Turning is an issue as with all FWD cars but I had fun pushing the pedal and I always felt in control even at high speed. Very little noise and it can definitely be a soft luxurious ride when you want it to be.

The Audi A4 is a fun little car. Despite it's limitations, I had a great time driving this sedan through residential areas and it turned a lot better than I thought. One thing I really loved about the A4 is that the brakes definitely felt a lot more responsive than say an Infiniti's or Mercedes C Class. Noise at times seem to be a concern when I'm on the freeway, but overall it's quite a fun/luxurious ride.

Winner: Audi A4

Pricing: Is it worth the money?

Buick Regal: This is definitely worth the money. If you pay around 33,000 for this car(after fees/taxes) you will be getting a great sedan to drive around with and occasionally have fun in. Good solid performance, a sporty look, and luxurious feel. Worth the money.

Audi A4: At 43,000(after fees/taxes) you will be getting a Non-Navi,FWD car. You can obviously get a better version but you have to pay 3k+ more for Navi and a few other options. The segment is just filled with Luxury Brands that deliver cars which are just as good if not better than the A4 and I don't know if I will pay 43,000 for this car. The TLX launching in a few months will definitely eat at the A4'S customer base on top of all the other Luxury Brands already in this segment. Not worth the money.

Final Conclusion: Buy the Buick Regal.

You can get a FWD A6 as well. Don't know for sure, but I'm guessing there's a FWD version of the A3, too.

In U.S., the A3 1.8T comes in FWD form only. The A3 2.0T is quattro. The TT used to come in FWD also, but not anymore....at least here in the States.

Yup, our B7 A4 was FWD (2.0T). Not too hard to find in the south either. It was also much peppier then the AWD version simply b/c it was more efficient to drive 2 wheels instead of 4. Better MPG as well...

I like the fact that you think you're putting effort into it which is why I hate to break this to you... but this topic is just a different way of presenting the same stuff. Actually, I probably didn't break it to you... I'm sure you already knew that.

At least it's somewhat well written...

Just couldn't resist the urge to bring up Lexus or the IS in a comparison/review between the A4 and Regal, huh?

A lot of Audi dealers sell FWD Audi A4'S in California, especially in the LA Area. I agree with you regarding the efficient part. It's a really fun car at times, glad to hear you had one.
It is always down to personal preference but I do feel that the Audi A4 is getting a bit dated, too vanilla etc. Overall the A4 is a good car.I had a lot of fun driving it. I would still go with the Buick Regal since we are looking at a 10,000 price difference(give or take).

Hmmm, its weird how you priced these out because you can build a A4 FWD Premium for as low as $33,800 and a FWD Regal for up to $42,080. Why not price them out the same instead of...... oh wait, I just got trolled.

Did you ever consider driving either car off a cliff and not attempting to bail out? Which ever car gets rid of you (the OP) faster gets my vote. I would even buy an Aztec for this cause.

Seriously, if we can't ban this guy, can we at least take away his thread starting privileges? I know it's an option because it says so in the bottom left of the page.

How many threads have to be locked before you realize it's not worth keeping him around?

Every member has the ability to ignore other members. Just click ignore and you won't see anything he posts. Pretty simple. You'll never need to read anything he posts again. . Keep in mind it's you guys who keep these threads alive. If you don't reply, it drops off the page.

Also, since you seem to know the rules better then any mod or admin without ever even being in the mod forum, feel free to use the 'Contact Us' link at the bottom of the page and message an Admin the specific rule or rules Tommy has violated from the Terms of Service which warrant a ban.

We can't ban people for being annoying or idiots or whatever. If we could, there would be quite a few of you gone

Not quite sure where this came from as I said "if we can't ban him". Like I asked, how many times do his threads have to be locked before you say enough is enough? He has to be pushing 80%. If newbs can't post new threads, I know the feature exists. In all honesty though, I don't really care.

I thought I've read a "ban" comment from you a few times in different spots. If I'm wrong, I apologize.

As for that functionality, not something we can do. That's an admin call and AFAIK, it's rarely if ever used. Again, best bet is to click ignore and you won't see anything he posts pop up again.

And don't worry, he's being watched. One slip up and I'm sure the switch will be flipped...
