So this mazda is taunting me to race, so I decide to race my 04 tl 6spd at the next light. I shut the ac shut off the vsa. This guy had a fat exhaust, I did peel somewhat and chirped second gear and had him by at least a car length. I am curious what he had done to his car cause it was fast. Anybody experience this little pocket rocket? Does the tl have a cutoff on the rpm's? will it not exceed 7 rpms? I believe i shifted around 6500 to take him.

He probably had Mazdaspeed Protege. It's the only Protege with a half-way decent chance at beating someone in a race. Stock it can do 0-60 in about 6.9 seconds. Slower than TL but can fool you if you don't recogize it as Mazdaspeed. With some improvements it can beat even a TL....

 

My freind has one, but he only has an exhaust and rims so far. HE keeps up witht the TL quite well, since I have auto 4-spd. But after 70mph he is starting to fall behind. Those cars are kinda cool.
