TL vs. 350z vs. g35

looking to buy a car(used). for a while i was thinking about the CL. then i thought why not just get the TL because the 4 doors will be alot more convenient for me with friends etc. i was planning on modding of course. but now im thinking, why not just go for a Z or g35(coupe or sedan?) instead, for about the same price as the TL + mods. what do you guys think? anything specific i should know. im starting to lean away from the TL because I do NOT drive manual :/

Not really a fan of the G35 sedan, but the coupe is nice. So is the 350Z. However, you were talking about friends and conviences, the G and the Z don't really have a nice backseat (the Z doesn't have one at all) so you're right back where you started with the CL. Have you looked at the Subaru Legacy 2.5GT?

Slayer, if you can get your hands on a beater car with a manual tranny, that would be a good way to learn (assuming you'd like to learn how to drive stick). Once comfortable with it, you can unload it for something like a TL/G35 6MT.

well this is only going to be my second car, and i don't know how to drive manual. and like F23A4 said, im sure it isn't very convenient in NJ. seems like it would be a hassle everywhere except the highway. not too sure about the subaru minch, just took a look at it and doesn't really look that great to me. and the reason i would go for the Z or G35 without much of a backseat is because i think they are nicer than the CL or TL. i could pick one up for around 24-25k used right?

If its a 2nd car then i say you try to learn to drive manual. Its soooo worth it, i been driving it for only 2 years and I cant picture going back to Auto.

And since it is your 2nd car. Then i say get a S2k or 350z.

Wait, is this a secondary car, like not your daily driver, or is this just the second car you've ever purchased?

If you are set on getting an auto, the G35/350Z is the better option. The Acura auto tranny has a HUGE recall on it because it is made of glass. Go take a look at the general discussions and it is evident that the tranny is inherently flawed. With that said, I doubt you could get a G35 for $24k used unless it has high mileage. The G35 has a very high resale value so its not such a great used car. The 350Z base is cheaper and you can find a decent quantity at that price and the auto is almost as quick as the 6-speed with the abundant torque in the 350Z. For $24k, there are new car choices that may be more fun/better such as the Subaru Legacy GT.

2nd car ever lol. and i cant find one for around 24k? is that just the coupe. i see one on a dealers site around me, i believe its a sedan, with about 20k miles for 25k. im sure you could get it for a little less, even with more miles. i wouldnt mind 40k miles on it...and i guess i might take a closer look at the 350z, even with no backseat. and i rather not get something new because im rather have something nicer(even if only a little bit) for the same price, unless there is something i havent looked at

Actually, the G35 Coupe can handle adults comfortably in the rear.

I can't figure out how a car with such a long wheelbase can be so small inside. Makes no sense at all.
I'd go with the G35 coupe or sedan. The 2nd gen TL just has too many quality issues.

the places i drive in st louis can be much the same, but i still find it enjoyable, but having a manual and auto is also a nice thing

I am looking at a Legacy GT, and Acura TL myself. Rule out the TSX cuz I want more power, and the G35C cuz I like 4 doors.
