TL or TSX

I went to an Acura dealer this Saturday with my girlfriend. We are looking at an 08 TL and an 08 TSX both with navigation. Which is the better deal. They are offering the TL for 2000 under invoice at $31,998 and they are offering the TSX at invoice of $28,553. I told her the TL is a much better deal because you are getting 2k under invoice. What do you guys think? What would you do. The problem too is that she doesn't really need the extra horsepower the TL offers. So maybe she should go with the smaller TSX.

Dayum. That's a pretty nice deal on the TL.

I'd go the TL route.

Looks like you have a Chicago IP address. What dealer are we talking about?

TL, FTW.....no brainer.

BTW, I thought invoice price on the 08 TL was $30,991. So, knock $2K off of that price and you're at $28,991.

When I had the TSX rental, I averaged around 24mpg (100% city driving), in my TL, I average about 18-19 on a good day. If she doesn't need the extra power or features, i'd just go with the TSX.

If you're worried about resale, get the TL. 2k under invoice is a good starting point to depreciate from.

If you're worried about monthly payments, go for the TSX at the lower price.

I'd be pretty satisfied with the deal on either car, although double check if that truly is invoice for the TSX. I got mine for 27,500 in 05, and I'm not sure the price has shot up that much.

The delar I went to is the Libertyville Acura. I already contacted Arlington Acura where I bought my TSX. I am going to see if they can do any better on the price. They already told me on the phone they will definitely match it. But obviously I want a little bit better than just matching. So we'll see.

One of my friends g/f's also came to me and told me she wants to buy my TSX. I have an 06 with 21k miles and navigation. How much should I expect to get for it just selling it to her? I also have an auto starter that cost me around 500 and I have all season mats and a bra for it too. What do you guys think? Is 24k unreasonable? KBB private says 23,300. No accidents and just a few scratches on it...so I would say excellent condition.

If she doesn't need all that car, who gives a fuck about good the deal is? Would you buy a Veyron because you could get it for $100,000 less than other people? Thats retarded logic. The TSX is still less money, get what you need, not what looks good on paper.

$4k is a lot.

Depends on her needs. Personally, Id wait for the newer models.

Now thats a great deal! 100K off a Bugatti. Group buy anyone?

But seriously I could consider where you live as well. If its an urban area with a lot of congestion I would lean towards the TSX. But other than that I'd say TL ftw.

Yep, especially since they are coming out this year...

If you buy an 08 TL or 08 TSX, it'll be the "old" model before xmas...

TL looks like the better deal.

TSX looks like (per your post) it's all she really needs. If she's cool w/ that anemic engine, get the TSX and save the $$.

same here

I'd wait for the 09 TL.

How bout a pre-owned TSX? Gets the job done and save 10G's.

Guess it depends on what you're after. 2K under invoice, you're ahead of the depreciation curve.

If the new TL looks anything like the 2009 RL, I'd buy now before the entire line is bastardized.

neither. get NSX!

as others commented, it really depends on her preference and budget.

though one is true JDM, and the other is fake JDM.

good luck!

True... but you've got to wonder why they are going 2K under invoice now... they usually don't do that until the next years model comes out Not that I don't believe the OP, but the TL is a decent seller, so I'm curious why they are priced UNDER invoice...

Good point.

But if I was in the market for an Acura and was presented with that deal, I'd take it and run!

Regardless of what happens in 2009, that's a pretty fantastic deal (if true)...

Yeah I was suprised too. But the dealer told me right now for every TL they can give you 2k off of it. Its because the more TL's they sell the more 2009 TLs they will receive. So its a 2k dealer incentive.

type S too?

so this car's for you or your girl?

if it's for your gf and she doesn't need the extra hp and size, i'd check and see if you can get lower on the TSX.

I was in a similar situation... same price.... same features....

If your doing highway driving get the TL. If your doing city get the TSX.

In the TL going 70% highway 30% city I manage 28~29mpg

I'll add that the TL is much more invigorating when you hit the throttle as well. Driving the TSX reminded me of driving a Civic SI... Driving the TL puts a grin from ear to ear on my face.

how much lower do you think they can go on the TSX. What's the cheapest anyone has paid for a TSX with navigation. $28,553 is what we got on the table so far. I am going to another Acura dealership tonight.

is that out the door?

granted that the price has gone up since 2005, which is when i bought my TSX.

but i paid $27,900 in january '05 for a 2005 model. and that was when the model was still fairly new.

i'd look in the TSX forum and look at the sticky thread that shows what everyone's been paying.

Back in 04, I paid $27,100 for my TSX w/navi...
