Sadly, last year I had a tough time getting moving in 8" of snow in my TSX. Those tires are just plain awful. Regardless of the OPs previous posts, I feel his pain.
True, the stock tires (MXM's) sucked donkey balls, but I thought the weak sidewalls were a bigger issue than the traction in snow...

After I trashed a couple of the MXM's I slapped a couple of Yoko's on, and those seem better in the snow...

The MXM's were just terrible in the snow when they got past 1/2 life (5/32's or so)...

The only thing the stock MXM's had going for them was longer tread wear...

Exactly. When I had the tires rotated on the TSX as 22,500 miles, tread is still there but I'm always feeling lose on the roads. I had the same issues in the CL-S and when i replaced the stockies with the Pilot Sport A/S, it was a completely different car.

You guys bitch about the stock tires, and you are right that they ain't the bast, but even with those, I never had issues in the snow.

I'll tell what. My CL has the best handling in snow of any car I've owned. I've got all seasons, I dont even know what they are. This is also the first car I've had with ABS.
It drives kind of like a tank, but at speed above 40, I losing grip. Almost forgot, last night and today with this huge storm, I went out several times, just for fun.

I'm sure some will disagree with me, but I just keep my left hand at 10'clock, right hand on the hand brake and just work the gas and use the hand brake when needed, like in an under steer situation. That's one thing I absolutely love about my car....a proper hand brake.

If I had a gun to my head and had to suggest an AWD. I'd go with a WRX, Legacy, still worried about deep snow, than go with a LR Discovery.

but really as others said you should either take lessons or practice some where safe. you must become one with the car

Dont blame the car, blame the Driver and your tires. My TL is Lowered and i drive thru much more snow than that with out any issues.

Snow packed right through the wheels, but she still pulls right through snow that was up to the chassis. I was literally plowing the road with the TL.

Just put some screws into your tires. That'll give you extra traction

we got 12" of snow on Friday and I drove to and from work(22 miles each way) without a problem! I do have a set of nokian hakkapeliitta's on my stock wheels though so that may have something to do with it...

I just read some of threads they are great.

I have to say hes great at working a camara.
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/just-short-vid-clip-my-car-speeding-697624/

I have always wanted nos for my leased car
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-performance-parts-modifications-112/nos-question-697337/

I have heard the TL doesnt have enough power but too much?
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/tl-has-much-power-694611/

Although I do feel bad for him though. It turns out when you turn into really fast traffic its the TLs fault for almost killing you

Also at all your racing threads. A Malibu and trailblazer really?

If you are starting out in deep wet snow or end up in it, if the snow is deeper than your
car's bottom clearance, no snow tire is going to bail you out of that. I have been stuck
in deep wet snow even with chains on the tires.(not my TL)

The only problem with that amount of snow is when the snow does pack into the rims and gets stuck there. It can unbalance the wheels and cause serious vibrations at highway speeds.

As an aside, there's nothing better, nothing so delicious than pointing out the shortcomings of others, but TL|GTX seems like such a reject of the gene pool that I see no sport in it.

I agree. I'm actually surprised that even today with a little melting I'm not getting vibrations from the snow in the wheels, I've had this happen before and usually the vibrations are enough for me to take some time and clean the wheels out, but so far so good this time. Hopefully it melts out soon.
