Of course, the thing is going to have to weigh more. I went the the TL Type S link off the front page of the acura-tl.com page and checked it out. Very cool. I know many of the 99 TL owners will be ready for the new and improved version. Looks more like the CL. Actually the new RSX (integra replacement) looks a lot like the CL. Trendsetters aren't we all

Pretty much...got a little crazy.
Raced a pumped up Maxima with no back or passenger seat, lost by .03 secs. (ran a 14.9 with >1 reaction time, yes I blew it on the starting block)
Got pissed. Took off one of the mufflers. Made a run.

Here is how it turned out.

Reaction: 0.7624
60 ft: 2.3282
330ft 6.2563
1/8: 9.4772
1/8 mph: 76.46
1/4: 14.6185
1/4 mph: 96.09

There you have it. I'm thinking about posting my runs. Yep, I'll do that now.

I'm pretty sure that TL-S time is just the manufacturer's estimate. It wasn't a road test, but a driving impression. No reason why the TL-S shouldn't be within a tenth of a second of the CL-S. Same chassis, about the same weight, just 4 doors and stodgier looks.

Have you been living in a cave? There are plenty of 4 door sport cars. I suggest you take a trip to a BMW dealership.
Secondly, of course the Tl should be slightly slower than the CL due to weight.
Finally, different magazines will post different performance results. This is because it is nearly impossible to duplicate driving styles, environmental variables, etc. to attain the same results.

Those numbers aren't entirely acurate. Go to different magazines and different people and you will always get different answers. Just wait for some people on the TL board to get one and take it to the track and get some real numbers. Also, isn't the TLS supposed to be about a hundred pounds lighter than the CLS?

If it's 100 pounds lighter, then it's probably faster then a CLS.

just out of curiousity, where are you getting this 100lbs lighter stuff?

all the info I've seen so far suggests that the 2001 tl weighs slightly more than a 2001 cl-p and slightly less than a 2001 cl-s. I haven't seen anything suggesting a massive weight reduction program initiated for the 2002 tl-s, so it seems reasonable to assume the 2002 tl-s will end up slightly heavier than the cl-s.

I'm just wondering if you've found reliable information to the contrary somewhere... (other than wishful thinking on the tl forum)

Nissan used this as a tag line for Maxima sales for years. Maxima, the 4 door sports car. They even had FDSC on the left read passenger window.

first off... ya cant trust a number Car & Driver publishes.

seems like they have listed 6.9 for every pre-production number of an acura.

second... ya cant go by any magazine... they all have radically different numbers.

the current TL has had numbers from 7.4 to 6.7 published in several mags...

the likely situation is that the CL-S and TL-S will be identical in acceleration.

the TL-S will likely be a bit heavier... all these "100lbs" lighter estimates are BS...

however... the weight distribution of the cars will prolly be a fair amount different... affecting numbers off the line as well as braking. by small margins though.

anyway... get over it... the cars are identical with the exception of the amount of doors.

I read in a recent mag (sorry can't remember exactly which one) that the TL-S weighs 3550
.. so it is a bit heavier than the CL-S which weighs 3510-3525 (depending on if you have Navi or not).

Everything that everybody says about the TLS is bullshit except for how much hp and torque it has. We all know it is the same engine as the CLS.

Nobody knows shit because the fuckin car isn't even out yet. Not even acura.com has specs yet. My 100lb less statement was rumor, just like everything else that eveyone has said.

WE JUST HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE CAR TO COME OUT!!

i think the TL-S will be a lil bit heavier than CL-S which is reasonable. it s like Camry V6 Vs. solara V6. but 0-60 i think if cl-s is 6.5, Tl-S probably will be around 6.6-6.9. it cant be that much different. CUZ THEY ARE FU*KING SISTERS!!! they all have 2 holes =) i mean 2 mufflers =)
