Adds 2/24 to the original warranty. So 5/60 with CPO.

35k sounds like a lot but I think the Golfs started rollin' in October of '09 ... 35k miles in 18 months isn't horrific. Assuming it was one of the first to be sold, of course.

Damn talking about holding resale. Only a 3k difference between a used with 35k miles vs buying new?

since they seem to hold their value pretty good i think i would have payed the extra 3k to get new.

Phee must have a good reason for going used and not paying $3k more for the new car.

Well, I would just say this ...

I think the $3000 for 35k less miles is not outrageous at $.12 a mile.

I think at 3% the $3000 difference isn't much more than $45 a month. I realize it's $45 but if you're spreading yourself so thin that $45 is make/break then you might want to look for something cheaper. Just my

^ And depending on how much you drive, that could be the savings you gain from gas costs going TDI.

$3k is $3k. Amazing how op want to spend your money. If you are happy with the car, dael, and price then I say congratulations. I would only suggest you check VW financing on a new purchase and Edmunds suggested retail on yours.

You have completely missed the point ... I'm not trying to get him to spend more money he doesn't need to spend just for the sake of a new car.

I'm telling him that he needs to do the math. If $3000 gets him 35k less miles that's worth considering ... The depreciation cost for a 15k mile 2010 is about $2500. I think that car is overpriced.

Phee, $22k OTD would be a good price on a 15k mile 2010 Golf TDI. On a 35k mile one I think it's way too high.

This isn't to say that they can't sell it to someone for that price. I'm just saying I don't think you should pay it. Everything I've seen says 1yr/15k mile depreciation on that car is $2500-3000. You're looking at two years worth of miles and four months until it's two years old. Thats $5000 off the price of a new TDI.

I wouldn't pay more than $20k for that car plus Tax & Tags.
