TL or GS300 or MDX

I'm currently starting my car shopping. I like the TL and the MDX from Acura. I noticed that they are discounting the GS300 by $5000 meaning that a new one could be had for about $36,000.

I believe I can be a non-Nav TL for no more than $32,000 and I'm not certain what a new base MDX would run (stickers at around $36,000).

Mostly, I'm struggling with the TL versus GS300 issue. Any insight or thoughts would be appreciated.

New re-design GS300 will be out soon... wait until you see it in person so that you could know which one you like it better

That GS is gonna be the final year in its generation. TL is just going into the 2nd year now.

What do you like? Better interior, styling, more goodies, super handling... give us some key factors you like to have.

Gs300

I own a 98 GS3 and am moving to a TL in the near future... these are two different cars... The GS feelings old and heavy and the TL fast and nimble... The GS is a great car and solid in everyway, but im tired of being called an old man by officemates.... Ill own a future body GS in the future but need a 6spd today... Its a tough call..

Well, I'd modify the GS and no one could call it old. Add some springs/Sways, wheels, stbs etc and it's a totally different car.
The TL has new features, is much faster stock and is "new".
The GS is built like a tank, the most reliable car in it's class and has Lexus top quality service.
I'd get the GS and simply modify it. If you don't modify cars and want newer tech over build quality and prestige, get the TL.

Can't help you with the MDX, but I can certainly help you with the GS decision.

I traded in an '03 GS300 Sportdesign w/ Nav, Mark Levinson sound system, and L-tuned suspension for my '04 TL (5AT w/ Nav) and have never regretted it for a minute.

The TL is much quicker, more nimble (even w/ FWD) and feels more planted on the road. The materials in the Lexus are nicer, but the Acura looks much more modern and driver-oriented. It also has XM radio (big plus for me) although the Levinson system in the GS sounds really good when playing CD's.

I would go with the TL all the way... at least until the '06 GS comes out early next year.

Isn't the MDX slated for a redesign for the 2006 model year? If looking at the MDX, I'd wait till at least 2006 as I'm sure it'll get a nice update in both looks and technology (BT maybe?)

TL or MDX? Talk about apples and oranges. One's a sport near luxury and the other's an SUV. Do you have more than 1 child? If yes, the MDX is the way to go. If one or no kids, go for the TL or GS300. The GS is a great car, but it's not as fun to drive as the TL- the TL feels the road better, is quicker and has more toys- i.e. blue tooth, DVD-A, XM and a better navi system.

TL & MDX

My wife has an '04 MDX NAVI/RES and I have an '04 TL NAVI. Both are fantastic vehicles, and each has its advantages. At times, I wish I had an MDX because it is MUCH more comfortable, roomy, etc., plus the 4wd is nice. But, most of the time, I'm very happy having the TL instead 'cause from a performance standpoint it is much better than the MDX. You simply can drive the TL much more aggressively. Plus, it has a cool interior and a pretty good sound system, with XM.

I think the GS is a decent car, but it is a little dated, IMO.

So I guess my order of reccomendation would be:
1. TL
2. MDX
3. GS

Good luck with your decision.

JB

Yeh TL and MDX are two different animals. One is a cheetah; the other is a fast elephant. I say stay with TL/GS for driving enjoyment.

You can blow an MDX away without trying either.

Much much more shortcuts and time in the shop. You GET what you pay for.
TL=IS class
GS=RL class

For starters.

Ummm, yeah.

TSX = IS300
TL = ES330 & GS300
RL = GS300 & GS430

The way I see it, Acura models kind over overlap models of other makes. For instance, the TL could be considered a competitor to both the BMW 330i & 525i IMHO. While the new RL competes w/ both the 530i & 545i.

And for once could you just admit that even Lexus has had some reliability/quality control issues as of late? I could cut and paste a dozen quotes from ClubLexus of customers who are unhappy and having vibration, transmission, paint quality, etc. issues. Your bias is really astounding.

I still haven't figured out why you waste your time coming to Acura message boards for no other reason that to criticize every car that they make. You're either mentally challenged or have no life outside the internet.

And I still haven't figured out why you waste your time worrying about me. Acura= cutting corners and reminds you of the real thing. It's not the real thing. That is all.
You probably buy Store Brand Cola to drink with your Mr. Boston's vodka and think people drinking Coke and Grey Goose are "over-paying" idiots as you got the same buzz on some cheap ass liquor.
