'Tis a sad day...hit a Fuc#*%$ Deer with the Acura
Bastard got me about 1/2 a mile from my house last night. I noticed two others standing on the right side as I came down over a hill and as I was just hitting the brakes to slow down this one runs full speed from the left side and we basically hit head on.
Hit him going about 45-50 m.p.h. Luckily he flew up high enough when I hit him that he didn't hit my windshield but it was damn close. I'd say he went 15 feet high and I watched him land in the ditch on the right side of the road in mirror.
Just got her back 3 months ago from the whole semi truck incident
You can see by where the dirt is brushed away that he was running straight at me. Looks like the hood, bumper, fender, and headlight all need fixed...not sure about the grille.
What should I do in the meantime about that headlight? The high beam bulb is still good. It's supposed to rain this weekend
Anyways, hopefully she can be fixed soon

That sucks, but I've seen much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much worse damage from a deer strike -- you got off pretty light.

One of those things can run you as much as $250~350 alone through the dealership.

For a few milliseconds I thought he was coming through the windshield to say hi but I lucked out by a few inches.
I forgot to mention, there is a huge over population of deer around here, so it's not uncommon for me to see them at least once a day when driving down this road, but they are so used to traffic they usually don't hang around the road or get spooked, but tonight was just bad luck on both of our parts I guess.

Where is the ballast exactly? Is it part of the headlight itself?
The high beam works, but when I got out of the car last night there was this loud "buzz" noise like something was shorting, so I know that can't be good.
Definitely not going to touch anything in there.

Oh, and sorry for the late replies and posting in the wrong forum...was busy on some stuff with work.
As far as the insurance and stuff goes, I'm talking with my agent and the guy who fixed the car the last time, so I should know what's going on by Monday (I hope).

If you turn the highs on then it automatically turns the lows on as well in turn making that buzzing noise. I would recommend not using your highs or lows to save the ballast .
Seems like you do a lot of night time traveling, I'd get the headlight asap so you can at least drive, the bumper and the fender etc can wait.
Ballast is attached to the headlights towards the underside , three screws hold it in place and the plug goes through the inside to the low beam HID bulb.

The important thing is you're OK. And the CL is can be driven. I say, if you can, disconnect that side's low beam bulb, then cover the connection so you won't short anything. Or throw another D2R bulb in, and cover the whole assembly with heavy clear packing tape. Not elegant, but will make it useable.

Deer are stupider regarding roadways than squirrels. All I can figure is they think they are the fastest things out there, and can bolt across the road without looking both ways, or just stand there in the middle of the road. A co-worker had a deer run into the SIDE of his car.
They did smarten up regarding location, they came out of the forest and into densely populated suburbia where the eating is so much better, and the only predators are cars. These things are the size of horses!
Lack of hunters is the problem. Some uppity towns are hiring pro hunters to gun down deer by the hundreds
For me anyway, the roadkill meat reverts to the state, you are not allowed to take it, and I think the state actually feeds it to people

But yeah, they need to take the hunting limits they have around here off, for a while at least. I can barely name anybody I know that hasn't hit a deer at least once, and this is my second (last was about 6 years ago in my old car).
Nobody wins when there are so many of them.

If you turn the lows on and you hear buzzing noise then that means that your bulb is broken or disconnected from the ballast plug yet the ballast is still good.
If you turn the highs on then it automatically turns the lows on as well in turn making that buzzing noise. I would recommend not using your highs or lows to save the ballast .

Damn Scotty, you are not having too much luck lately, huh?
We had a deer massacre of sorts around here last week. I saw 2 dead ones and one just hit within a mile of each other on one road. The one that just got hit, well, I saw it in the middle of the road with one leg out front, trying to drag itself across the street. It was terrible. I felt bad for the person who hit it, they were just sitting on the side of the road probably in shock.

the one i hit at 65 mph it fucked up my Odyseey pretty good. but it's fine now that was 1.5 year ago. yeah i killed that 10 pointer.
