does BMW pay for "updates" after it's out of warrenty. if it didn't i'd either not buy it or sell it before it goes off warrenty.
I would have went with a Benz 320 CDI can't beat the gas mileage. grant it 0-60 time like in the 7 second range but you can get like 35 mpg with that thing.

Bluetooth technology allows for hands-free speakerphone capabilities with certain model phones.

They have bluetooth retro kits for most bmw models even as far back as the late 90's models.
around 250 bucks for the module.

- Many seem to complain that BMWs are expensive to maintain once out of warranty.

You gotta realize that, bmw includes maintence for the car up to 4/50k now, it covers brakes, all fluids, and even wipers. Before your maintence runs out u can also purchase the extended warranty. i got mine for 1000 bucks which covers everything up to 100k miles.

On most japanese cars they dont' include the maintence cost, so it will be cheaper out the door. I remember 15k and 30k and 45k maint being around 400 each.

The 545 w/ the sports package is unbeliveable when u drive it. many don't like the styling but once u get over that you'll love the 50/50 weight distribution and the double vanos v8
