My other half is looking at used cars to buy pretty soon, and he's got about $22k canadian to spend. He doesn't really care so much about sportyness, so I suggested to him a 1998 ish RL. Does anyone know of the build problems on the RL's? I did a search but couldn't find anything on old ones. Also is the RL immune from the dreaded tranny problem?

 

RL's have the same transmission as the 1st generation 3.2 TL's. VERY reliable. They are built in Japan and are considered to be THE epitome of Honda quality.

As for the RL's themselves, they've been highly recommended as a good used car by Consumer Reports. I would recommend a '99 over a '98, there are significant improvements both in safety and features as well as cosmetic changes.
