Thinking I might buy a Scion XA

Right...
Last time I checked, an automatic transmission tC will run me about $20K out the door. Fuel economy isn't great either...for that price, I'll spend an extra $2K and buy myself a Camry V6 w/265HP and a 6-spd Auto.
The Corollas are selling for dirt cheap right now. I see them advertised nearly weekly for < $14K plus TTL for an Automatic "LE" model with basic power. No ABS, but I could care less for it.
If I'm going to spend $18K on a small car, I would buy a Civic. At least it has a 5-spd Auto and much better fuel economy.

I was able to get my box (toaster/refigerator/etc
) for a bit over 16K out the door. The only options I got were floor/trunk mats and the upgraded CD player w/ ipod integration. I also got the maintenance package ( 55K miles, all maintenance is covered ) and extended warranty. I didn't think it was too bad of a price. The xA should be cheaper. I never bothered looking at the TC's. I needed more room.
Also, the xA's/xB's come fully loaded. they even have traction control!!
Gotta keep those 90 horses in check!! haha

go read scionlife.com. nobody is paying 20k out the door for an automatic tC unless they get those stupid options like shift knobs and neon lights.
Agreed. My tC was $20k OTD but I had options...5spd, $1500 leather heated seats, $650 for side-curtain airbags and a $1150 6yr/100k warranty. I love it - could not have made a better choice to fit my anticipated high mileage per year and my wallet while I'm saving for a house. You'd be shocked how many looks it gets. And for a "cheap" car, can't beat the 17" alloys that come standard, sunroof, TPS (believe me, it works), and it's a bigger car on the inside than it looks.

Maybe not $20K OTD, but $19.5K...
Last time I checked, an automatic transmission tC costs about $17.5K. Add about $1400 in taxes, and another $300 in document fees, and you're at or near $19.5K. That's a lot for such a small car...especially one that gets equal gas mileage to a car with almost twice its power...
