Think he was trying to pull something?

Tried to get a nail puncture repaired 400 miles from home Monday. Guy looks at it and says "can't be fixed, you need (4) new tires". This was without dismounting and inspecting the tire off the rim. Told him I was born at night, but not last night and to pound sand! Get home today and the local tire dealer who has been in the business since 1956 fixes it, takes my $15.00 and tire is as good as new. Goodyear store in Pacific Grove, CA. End of rant.

Yeah, thats because the spare didnt maintain the proper overall diameter of the original wheel/tire, in-turn causing a gearing change which caused the tranny to lock up, causing the engine to prematurely fail. Dont sweat it, it happens all the time to suckers...........i mean good ole' hard workin folk.

On a serious note, he tried to scam the ever living shiz outta you.

Insane that is exactly what happened to me, it also caused the battery to drain, so I had to replace that too

A lot of places won't repair nail punctures because they don't want to be held liable if it fails (almost never) and causes you to flip your car (extreme worst case). They also want to make a quick buck (couple hundred) selling you new tires. I always fix my own punctures, takes 10 minutes (and I pay myself).
