These corvette guys have a great community!
So i've been driving my dads C5 for the last 2 days and man it's great driving this car. Not even for the performance reasons, but everytime you pass a C5 on the road the owner waves. Pull up to a light next to one, the owner already has his window down ready to start a conversation. I try to do this w/ CL people, usually only fixed up ones and I never get any response.

I think its a Corvette thing for sure....I remeber being like 10 years old and going for a ride in my dad's vette and people honking....waving.....talking at gas stations! It is a neat little click!

my dad got the A4 My mom yells at him everyday for doing it. Right now just 3.42 rear end, but head and cam package will be on very soon
prices are definately dropping, esp. w/ the release of the C6 up. I'd definately consider one. Right now my next car choices are between the Dodge Magnum R/T and a used C5

Pretty damn cool. I don't see enough CL's around to be able to try and get a conversation going. :o

I think w/ the C6 coming out now, you'll see the C5 prices really start to drop (due to price compression). The early C5's are cheap like you said, but the later one (like the Z06's) are still a little high (IMHO). Some of the sellers haven't realized that you can get a BRAND new stripped C5 for about 35-38K (depending on the incentives this week). I saw prices on NEW Z06's @42K about a month or 2 ago.
My next car is either a used 911 or a C5. I'll keep the CLS. It'll make a great winter beater

whenever I'm out and see a modified CL I try to talk to them .. always give the thumbs up and other cl\tl guys have given it to me .. and have had people recognize my car from pics I've posted on this forum. recognized one other members car that lives around by me too one time.
as for the vette thing .. my friend had a restored 74 vette and I noticed the same thing, they all wave

The "Corvette Wave" started way back in the mid '50's when
there were but a few 'vettes on the road. Many of the new 'vette
owners do not acknowledge other Corvetters and so ignore the
wave of another 'vette driver. This is considered ignorant in the
Corvette community but not all people that drive Corvettes are
part of the Corvette community.
KX
Corvettes owned:
1954 White 6cyl 235ci, 3 side draft carbs.
1961 283ci, twin 4's, modified & restored.
1972 LT1, auto (wifes car) Steel Cities Gray.
bought new.
1991 ZR1 2nd owner, still have.
1993 ZR1 bought for re-sale.
1994 ZR1 bought for re-sale.

I've been noticing the same thing with my Cobra. I was driving to pick up some food with my woman and three guys....like 18-20....were oogling over my ride. When I do see a supercharged Cobra on the road, the driver always waves!
