Test Drove M3: REVIEW

All i have to say is WOW!..i have never been a BMW enthusiast..and frankly i think most of their 3 series cars are overpriced...except for the M3...The guy who took me on the TEST DRIVE made the experience worth it..he was crazy...i mean he showed me what the car was all about before i even got behind the wheel..Just twisting and pulling turns..i closed my eyes a couple times i thought we were going to crash..but that car is just glued to the road..and the speed..ooo the speed..the only Car available for test drive was an SMG..and it was convertible..yet it was still soo fast..i mean just on another level from any other car i have driven or been in

THe only CON: Convertible is horrible..when one is sitting in the backseat at one point he/she has to duck their heads down to not get hit by the rag top coming up!

Take a look at this SMG M3c review

http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2002470459,00.html

Sure, there are four seats but the only person who ever looked good in the back of a convertible was Mussolini.

black seat is for insurance purposes..it's cheaper for 4 seater than 2 seaters....that's why a lot of convertible has 4 seaters like SC430, SL500, M3 convt, 330i convt etc.

I couldn't care less about having to duck in the back seat b/c it sure as hell won't be me doin' the duckin' I drove the smg coupe last summer for about an hour. Dealer gave it to my wife and I while they worked out the deal on our new 330xi. My wife said she was too afraid to drive someone else's expensive car--I said fawk it, hand over the keys and let's go! I had to play around w/ smg timing b/c some of the shifts are almost too abrupt while some are too slushboxy feeling. I felt the 4th setting for speed was just about perfect. If I had the $$$$$$$$ to buy one right now, I don't know which I'd get, the 6 spd or the smg. I love driving a manual (it's what I learned on) and getting the shift just right is cool (especially w/o using the clutch and during a heel/toe) BUT smg is waaaaaaaaay kewl.

It's an awesome car, but it sounds like the review was written by someone who's never been in a car faster than a 15-second car.

Let me tell you.... popsci has been beat of the head for this for so many reasons. First, this is not an easter egg - it is a well documented feature known as "launch assist" or "launch control" not only is it in the owners manual but it is also in the SMG brochure. Secondly, there is a big problem with the warranty on this with bmw because some are saying that if it used to many times it voids your powertrain warranty. There is no official confirmation either way from BMWUSA on this yet though. Lastly, "any dealer can do the install of the euro computer". Ok, not only will just about NO DEALER do that install but it is not just a swap . The maps are different and so is the software. Popsci sucks for writing this bullshit!

SL500 is NOT a 4 seater dude. Mercedes doesn't do stuff like that....

And the new SC430 looks really stupid with 4 seats... The 3 series converts look ok though.
