Test drove a Grand Prix GTP Comp G

I was bored the other day and I have also been thinking about getting a second vehicle so I went to a local Pontiac Dealership. I picked me out a fully loaded Comp G and took that baby for a test drive. I was pleasantly suprised. The car was quick, the Monsoon stereo sounded good, and the build quality seemed very good.

The paddle shifting is fairly quick and the car does a good job of sticking to the ground. The brakes felt great. The leather seats were adequate and of course heated for those cold mornings.

The information provided by the computer was my favorite gadget. It tells you everything from boost level to oil temperature. Also, the Heads-Up-Display was definitely cool. It tells you your speed, heading, and temperature all in a digital readout.

The two things that I wish it had are HID's and Navi.

Anyways, I think I can get a fully loaded Comp G with 0% financing for about 24K... Very tempting.

Has anyone else taken one for a spin? What were your impressions?

Ugly but powerful in a straight line, the GTO is the one to go with because if you'd spend $25k on a GTP you'd probably spend $30k on a GTO.

Ugh.

Nice mini review. Glad to hear thats the build quality has improved since the last generation. What'd you think of the interior layout?

The interior was nice... The layout is more cockpit style facing the driver which I like. Although the other vehicles I am considering are the new TL and an S-60R , so the comparison is hard to make between the price differences.

i'd have to let the compton g go..its just fugly!! plus the cheap plasticky inferior interior just doesn't compare with import interiors!
love the goat, but just can't see spending anything over 30k for a pontiac

I liked the old GTP but the new one is ugly. I'd go with the S-60R or new TL.
