I'm glad BMW continues to excel in the art of making smooth, fast, and amazingly fun to drive cars. Some day soon I'd like to be able to get a newer BMW, maybe still an E46 though...

Sounds sweet but it'll cost somewhere around $70gs with all these options you love so much

Why compare it to a TL which is 3/5 of the price?

Ditto on the congrats.

If you can get the 535i or, better yet, 550i with xDrive, 6MT, sport package equal to those w/o xDrive, I'm there. I love those torquey-down-low engines and can live with a primitive AWD system.

The other choice would be a 335i xDrive w/ 6MT, M sport.

I love the TL SH-AWD 6MT but I'm thoroughly tired of torqueless engines.

x2 I would totally do the european delivery if I ever get a BMW and I have time for a nice vacation!!

Haha thats how you can convince your wife. Tell her they are giving you a small vacation to Europe haha. And with the money you save on the car just spend it in Europe so its almost like its FREE! I dunno exactly how much you save, but I hear its quite a bit. But it should cover transportation if I'm not mistaken. Dunno about lodging

Also are there any events like this offered in souther california? I would totally want to go to one. I've never driven a BMW, and I'm missing out. I want too!!!!!!!

BMW of fremont has a black 535i in stock now.

I test drove it and it was quiet nice. The new inline 6 is even more smoother than the current twin turbo setup in my 135i. That 8 speed is simply magical.

I can't wait until the the new M5 arrives. Can't wait for my new M5 to arrive in 2 years

I'm not too impressed by the new 5 just from having read about it. I don't like the look and the interior seems just as austere and bland as always (though the new iDrive looks nice). If I were spending the kind of coin it will take to get a decently equipped 5er I'd rather get the best BMW there is: M3 FTW!

Well the TL is what he owns right now. Like with the Genesis, Acura likes to market the TL "up" to the midsize luxury sport sedan class, so he's just playing their game.

Yeah but BMWs have always been conservatively styled vehicles (until Bangle reared his head!). They're like the Camry and Accord. Rarely ugly, but a safe bet on a clean design.

And I haven't driven one but I said in a "base" 535i briefly. The materials and finish blow any production Acura/Honda out of the water including the new ZDX which has extra thick carpets and leather dash, etc.

In short, the 5-Series is more about substance than style, more about what it is than how it looks.

If your referring to the Bmw event which was held at Patrick BMW in Schaumburg. Man, if only I didn't work my 12hr shift that day. Nice input on the 535i.

I've never been a 5 series fan. I'm sure it's a very nice vehicle, but after seeing the pictures above, I'm still not a fan. Maybe it'll grow on me.

M3 doesnt have anywhere near those type of options. He added some freaking cool stuff! A little overboard but still neat!

What the hell is with people comparing a 535i to a M3?

Next we'll be talking about how much we'd rather have having an M5 over a 750Li.

Ignorant, ignorant statement. Or pointless. Yeah, that's actually better.

And OMG 20/29? That's awesome mileage for that thing!

Is it just me or does that thing have an incredibly long nose? My E46 seems to have the engine sit slightly past where the firewall would be in most cars so it's fairly short in the front end with the I6... Is it just me or does it have a schnoz? Still a beautiful car!

BMW man, I hear people complain about problems and pricing, but whenever someone drives a BMW for the first time, it's nothing but amazement. This is why I lust for a 540i M Sport, even though it's a 2001...still a beautiful and well built master piece!

BMW doesn't price their cars all that high, they're worth every dollar spent, especially compared to many of the other luxury brands. Problems? Every car has problems, while the Japanese cars may be more reliable they're certainly nowhere near as fun to drive.

Good luck with a 540i, I hear that V8 is torque monster! Never driven one myself, but I'm very happy with my 330xi, it's a fun car to drive especially compared to my old TL.

BMW's pricing is out of control but at least they can back it up with a good car. Is a 535xi worth $70k?

Subjective for sure. But it's a LOT of money.

I built a 550i with almost all the options for about $85K...

Congrats Pete!

I just reserved/ordered a spot for a 2011 535xi for one of my customers. His current 535xi 6 speed is expiring this month, he is extending his lease until his 2011 535xi 6 speed comes in, hopefully September/October (BMW says it will be available in the Fall).

Good luck!

I've never liked the 5 series that much, other than the M5 (who can't like that).

But I gotta say this BMW looks, sounds, feels amazing from what I read. Just gets me wondering how awesome the F10 M5 is gonna be

That nav screen is huge! And I like it, the interior is layed out a lot better than the previous ones. Is it more like the 7 now? Kinda seems more similar to it, I dunno though, havent seen a interior for a 7 in a while.

Hopefully I find myself a great career in the future to buy this car

Ohh an up till I started reading about this F10 5 series, I've always preferred the new E class to the current 5. Can't say that anymore with the new 5 though haha

I do happen to be one of the few that actually didn't mind the E60 design though. Wasn't great, but didn't think it was bad.

Gotta love the "Dynamic Handling Package" and then another $2,200 for the "Sport Package"

But the only thing I find truly ridiculous is $475 for a split folding rear seat. Come on now.
