Test drove a 1992 NSX...
Available at my dealership. 1992. Black. Only 70K kms on it. New 18" rims (forgot the brand). Beautiful beautiful condition...And asking for $49,000CAD.
I cannot begin to describe the temptation to buy it especially after I test drove the car. It just flat out rocked. Period. The closest thing to a such a thrilling ride was the 2003 M3 I played around with earlier this year...and to me, the NSX is still way better. Perhaps the interior is minimalistic...but, I really don't recall Ferraris being especially luxurious on the interior either. I'm in love with the NSX...Ack.
Now, it's only a matter of whether this car makes sense at this point in my life and whether I want to give up my CL-S...

Being a former owner of a 1992 black NSX, here are some tips.
I bought my '92 NSX in 1999 for US $27K. It had 60K miles on it. I spent $1800 for the timing-belt/water-pump/valve-adjustment and another $1600 on the clutch - these are required between 80K miles upwards. I drove it for 2.5 years and put about 60K miles on it and sold it for $29K <- yes, MORE than I bought it for
Advice:
Check if the timing-belt has been changed
Check the condition of the clutch
Check the title for odometer fraud
The car is awesome and I had a great time with it - with I/H/E, it pulls on an M5 on the freeway (80mph to 150mph).

You know, the urge to buy it is just crazy right now. It is by far, the most fun I've had with a car. Period.
However, the problem with buying this vehicle is where I am living, right now. The city where I live is considered to be extreme conditions. The winters here are beyond frigid and the amount of snow that's dumped here is often insane. And winter pretty much lasts until early May sometimes. Then, the roads aren't swept and cleaned until maybe sometime in June. So...I have to consider do I want to give up my 365-day semi-luxury ride for a POS beater for 2/3rds of the year and have a vanity car that I get to enjoy for maybe 2-3 months tops?
Ack...

The dealership I got my car from had a 96 selling for 38K. Not sure about the miles 'cause I thought I couldn't afford it anyway. Bought the CLS instead.
If I had it to do all over again, I would have gotten the NSX.
I say go for it!

The auto NSX's were 240hp.
I actually liked the gearing of the 5-speed - 2nd goes to 80mph!!

Tonight at the dealer (Peyton Cramer, Torrance) I saw 3 NSX's. One stock 2004 Yellow, and 2-92's, a black one with big wheels and brakes and an INSANE red one fully race set-up. OH MY GOD IT WAS AWESOME! Supercharged (640whp) adjustable wing, HUGE brakes, seats, you name it. Apparently they are both being prepped for a NSX-expo event up in S.F. area. Funny feature... since the S/C and wing take up the whole rear-view there is a camera in the key-hole in the rear and an LCD screen on the rear-view... COOL!

Living in Canada with winter coming up quick and you want to get a nice car like that?!
I would say go for it if you were to keep it as a second car and if you have a garage to put it in while you use the CL as your daily/winter driver.
If you can't afford a second car and second insurance, then this may turn out to be more of a headache than anything else.
Of course all the pussy you'll be getting driving an NSX will offset that.

It really takes awhile for some of these highend cars to bottom out on the depreciation curve. When they do, they usually will sit in the same value range (resale wise) for many years.
If a highend car is in decent condition it's not impossible to buy a car, drive it for awhile, and then flip it for more money (like allmotor did) or about the same $$.
